Summary: This receiver is lightyears ahead of the old RCA I replaced it with. It automatically adjusts everything based on what you have connected and how the interface travels - optical, HDMI, etc. It is a HUGE improvement and for the $ you cannot go wrong. I am currently only running 2 tower speakers and a self-powered subwoofer and the sound experience is fantastic. I have yet to truly experience the 7.1 as I do not have the other 5 speakers connected yet.
BOUGHT AS A RECONDITIONED PRODUCT, SO FAR, NO TROUBLES.

Summary: SET UP WAS VERY EASY. I LIKE THE WAY ALL THE IT TAKES ALL YOUR CABLES FROM THE CABLE BOX, DVD PLAYER, AND GAME DEVICE INTO ONE HDMI CABLE THAT PLUGS INTO THE BACK OF THE TV SET. THE DIFFERENCE IN SOUND IS LIKE NIGHT AND DAY.
Excerpt: However, the set-up menu is so user friendly and is so detailed in its parameters that the result of a few minutes work will provide an even more accurate calibration than could have been achieved with an auto-calibration. It also does not have up-conversion for the analog video inputs. If you’re interested in having the up-conversion feature, check out Sony’s STR-DH720 which is only thirty dollars more.
Summary: Bought this product when I upgraded my TV and surround sound. Hooking it up to a Samsung Smart TV, Samsung 3D Blue Ray,a Polk Audio sub woofer and five JVC speakers. So far so good. Watch for updates.
Summary: For a low cost receiver this one is very good. It is a good value. It does everything I wanted it to do. The basic functions are there plus some extras. It is more than I need, which means it is all I need.
