Great!!!

Teamplay69, Amazon
22 October 2009
  • Summary: Love the receiver. Sound is perfect for what I like. The max volume is a pinch weak, is the only flaw. I have a PS3 I use and the sound is great, works well with a Blue Ray DVD. The remote is a proplem. The shut off button does not work. I tried to replace it but Sony does not make a replacement.

GREAT product

Ron Jebry, Amazon
15 July 2009
  • Summary: It took awhile to work through all the directions (2 hrs +) but it was worth the exercise. The microphone supplied with the receiver takes a lot of the guesswork out of getting each of the speakers to the right level.

Excellent Receiver for the price, but instructions are REALLY bad.

K. Anderson, Amazon
5 February 2009
  • Summary: I am a big fan of Sony. They do make a quality product. This receiver is no exception. PROS: It is an great receiver for the price. It is solid, and the front panel is uncluttered. There are several HDMI inputs (4), composite inputs and plenty of audio inputs too.

Sony STRDG820 7.1 Audio Video Receiver review

The labwizard, Amazon
23 January 2009
  • Summary: Great receiver with 4 HDMI inputs which I have already used up. It was the only one I found with that many HDMI inputs. My only complaints are with the sound system which is very confusing to understand from the manual and has a very goody method of attaching speaker wires.

Great Functions Crummy User Manual and Displays

Dr. Eric J. Karson "dreric1", Amazon
7 December 2008
  • Summary: With a Roku, PS3, Blu-Ray and DVR needed four HDMI inputs - this seemed to be the most reasonable. Easy initial set-up, very good sound. Remote is not too intuitive, hard to program for other TVs.

STRDG820 Review

Leslie R. Dearman, Amazon
24 November 2008
  • Summary: I just hooked this system up, and for the money it is a great system. Using the HDMI ports are awesome being that you do not have massive amounts of cables running everywhere. The speakers sound very clear, and I was actually listening to NFL games in surround sound.

Solid and Versatile

Celtic Fan "Returning", Amazon
18 October 2008
  • Summary: To avoid repetition, I agree with Dan Dautrich's excellent review, and will limit mine to a few additions: Setup using the factory defaults is quick and easy. The myriad of customizing options available using the AMP Menu lets you adapt the receiver to just about any combination of inputs, speakers,...

It does almost everything - happy with it overall

A. Dent "Aragorn", Amazon
23 September 2008
  • Summary: I would not call myself a super-sophisticated audiophile but we do listen to music, play games, watch HD TV and Blu-ray movies and, occasionally, we listen to the radio. Our new acquisition - this Sony STRDG820 - we credit with enhancing all of the above and it does it (with some help - see below)...

Workhorse at a fair price

Douglas Rhoades "Attorney & Writer", Amazon
1 September 2008
  • Summary: Ive been a Sony loyalist for thirty years, and this is the 8th Sony receiver I've purchased. None of the previous seven failed, mind you. I've just continually upgraded. Even the first one I bought more than twenty years ago is chugging along fine in my garage.
