    This is a great entry level receiver. I'm not an audiophile at all. I had two reasons to select this product:* No HDMI pass-thru (the sound from your Blue-Ray / HD device) will go to your speakers.* Price,[...]for a HDMI receiver this is a great price!If you are going to use this (or any receiver) an advance universal remote control is a *must*.I have been using this receiver for about 4 weeks and it's great.     This receiver works perfect with my PS3. It doesn't decode for TrueHD but a PS3 does that itself. I have an Infinity TS 1200 and Infinity Primus 362 floorstanding speakers and all together, bluray is better than going to the movies. I bought it for 200 bucks from sonystyle.com a year ago and never looked back. You can't beat the price for performance ratio. Im not a hardcore audiophile but for noobs, this receiver will do everything you need for a very small price. Read more

    I bought this unit for one reason. I wanted to take the output from my computer music card and amplify the signal to five speakers in my shop room. The fact that it has a AM, FM tuner is a plus but it does not have a TV tuner, bummer! It is not equiped with RDS or RBDS for recognition of transmited station and artist information thorugh the radio signals. Sony STR-DG720 is a 7.1 channel Home Theater A/V Receiver which provides users a full HD 1080p experience. This A/V Receiver uses the HDMI combined with "Active Intelligence" and its 1080/24p capability makes it compatible with Blu-ray Disc Players. The STR-DG720 has three High Definition Media Interface™ (HDMI) inputs.

Features

The Sony STR-DG720 is featured with a DIGITAL MEDIA PORT (DMP) connection which allows users to play music directly from iPods, PC and other music players such as Walkman which may require additional accessories (sold separately). It has a Digital Cinema Auto Calibration technology automatically regulates speaker placements, distance, and delays. The XM® Connect and Play Ready with 5.1 Neural Decoding feature allows users to listen to several digital radio channels upon connecting an optional Connect-and-Play antenna and signing up for XM service. BRAVIA® Sync option provides a one button operation (via HDMI) with a select number of BRAVIA televisions. This AV Receiver also uses special Digital Signal Processing which allows for lip sync delay thereby adjusting the refresh rates of advanced flat panel televisions and microdisplays. Sony STR-DG720 features Digital Cinema Sound technology which uses exclusive DSP technology in order to recreate the precise environment of three Hollywood Dubbing Stages where movies are created. The device has a measure of 16 15/16 x 6 1/4 x 12 1/4" (W x D x H) (430 x 157.5 x 310mm) (Approx.) and weighs 17 lbs 10 oz. It also has AM/FM Memory Presets from 30 FM - 30 AM. It is equipped with 3 HD Component Video Input(s), 1 HD Component Video Output, 3 HDMI Connection Input(s), 1 HDMI Connection Output, 4 Composite Video Input(s), 1 Composite Video Output, 1 Headphone Output and 1 Subwoofer Output. The STR-DG720 has a 7.1 Channel Power Rating: 110W x 7 Amp Power (8 ohms, THD 1.0%) and consists of tuner types such as Auto Tuning, Direct Tuning, and Station Name.
