This does what it says for the most part

G. Tautenhahn, Amazon
20 April 2013
  • Summary: I have had this receiver for a couple of years and had no problems but keep getting told to use hdmi. I use an optical for my TiVo a coax for my DVD. I have always done that but I have a roku 3 also but doesn't give me 5.1 sound.

You get what you pay for...

T. Harward, Amazon
21 July 2009
  • Summary: Others have covered the technical limitations/features of the receiver - let me put a word in about audio quality. As a preface, you may not care about this factor much - but for those that do I believe it's very important that they know about this. So take it for what it is.

good receiver but needs remote to use the FM turner

David J. Nettleton, Amazon
19 July 2009
  • Summary: I bought this used receiver because it switches HDMI and digital audio. The only problem is that you need the remote to use the FM turner. Since the seller didn't send the remote this is an ongoing problem.

Nice Option

G. Jones, Amazon
11 July 2009
  • Summary: I do own this product and am not an audiophile per se. I bought this receiver to replace an older HTIB after I purchased a new Sony Bravia LCD TV. Is it the best receiver out there? No. Is it a good receiver for the money? You bet.

Two Thumbs Up for Sony

Michelle T., Amazon
4 July 2009
  • Summary: Up until a month ago my "home theater" consisted of a 15 year old 32" tube television with a KOSS home entertainment/DVD system. So forgive me, but this is all new to me. We were going to get an LCD TV, but we got a DLP projector and a Blu-Ray player instead.

Value for a price.

Crank, Amazon
27 June 2009
  • Summary: Indeed, this is not the best amplifier or digital hub. It is not the best receiver. But anyone looking for 1080p pass through at 24 or 60 frames or 80mhz components for HDTV cannot really do any better. Got mine for 163 dollars from circuit city 10% off.

Excessive Delay but Nice Product

Just-A-Guy, Amazon
27 June 2009
  • Summary: Took a while to get the shipment started, but I like the product so far (early days still). Think all features work, but will know more after time passes.

HDMI largely useless for audio

Marc F. Berezin, Amazon
22 June 2009
  • Summary: I bought this receiver, along with a Blu-Ray player, for its HDMI inputs. Hidden in the fine print of the product description are the words "pass-through", which apparently means it can "pass through" audio to a TV via HDMI, but not to speakers which are connected to the receiver.

PROTECT MODE

Roger L. Stennes, Amazon
18 June 2009
  • Summary: I installed this unit to replace an older RCA surround unit that didn't have HDMI connections for my new HD LCD TV and SONY BLUERAY player. It seems to have a problem with the RCA surround system speakers. It keeps going in to PROTECT MODE and turning off, what a pain in the middle of a movie.
