Wow!... Simply WOW!

  • Summary: When I was in the market to buy a new AV receiver, I wanted the following: (1) Good sound quality (2) Video upscaling & upconvertion (3) At least 3 HDMI inputs (4) XM Ready. As much as I LOVE Sony video components (TVs, cameras, camcorders) I owned a Sony receiver in the 90s and it was a piece of garbage. So I started looking at Onkyo, Harmon Kardon, Yamaha, and Denon. Although all of them are great brand receivers, none of them offered the "TOP 4" that I wanted.
  • Pros: Accurate Controls, Clear Signal, Easy To Set Up, Good Sound, Great XM display, Nice OSD menus

Very Happy

  • Summary: I moved a Yamaha RXV-757 receiver/amp into another room because it did not have HDMI connections and purchased the Sony STRDG2100. I have always had good luck with Sony products and I was not disappointed this time either. The ability to switch from HDMI 1 for gaming and HDMI 2 for television is a huge improvement over a non-HDMI amp. PS3 games now shake this Historic 1880's building we live in!

  • Summary: Use this product to get highest quality sound from HDTV, Blue Ray Discs, Music only. Does a fabulous job of decoding video and audio. Bought this receiver for a few hundred dollars more than what I paid for a cheaper model and couldn't be happier. At [$]this receiver is definitely worth considering if you are building a mid to high end home entertainment. Don't forget to use ultra high speed HDMI cables. They do make a difference.
  • Pros: Does all it claims, Good Value, High Quality, True HDMI - Not passthrou
  • Cons: none

Sony's 1080p24, Dolby TrueHD, dts-HDMA Receiver...

Howard "hg-film", Amazon

  • Summary: The Sony STR-DG2100 7.1 Channel Receiver allows 1080p 24hz (fps) pass through, so owners of Toshiba's 1080p24 HD DVD players can now enjoy 24fps and PS3's can use the "auto" selection (instead of "on" forced) and still get the same benefit of 24fps through a receiver. Also, nice for owners of Toshiba's HD DVD XA2 or A35 (and some Blu-ray players) is the inclusion of Dolby+, Dolby TrueHD and dts-HD Master Audio for, IMO, a great improvement in sound with these formats (as...
