Summary: Easy to connect and use the various sound modes. User manual is available online. Stereo sound is excellent using analog RCA plug connections, and surround sound is even better using optical audio connection from DVD player and DISH receiver. No electrical noise; back and surround speakers are about 12 ft away from listening position and front speakers are about 6 to 7 ft away. 16 gauge wire speaker wire used. Well satisfied.
Summary: Had an older model Sony 5.1 receiver that had the DTS processor go bad, so it was time to upgrade. Similar to my old receiver but many improvements on the things I disliked about my old receiver. Easy selection of speaker setup, obvious menu navigation, and pleanty of inputs. Good sound quality for the 110w generic-ish small sony speakers. The 2nd speaker outputs for a large pair of floor speakers is great for phono (which has a decent preamp built in).
Summary: I expected better from Sony but this unit only accepts 8 ohm speakers. It was not listed as so and there is a 60HZ ac hum which shows poor filterig. Other features are fine but falls short in quality sound.
Summary: This receiver was a massive upgrade from the Magnavox I had for 10 years. Sounds decent, lots of inputs, I felt the setup was easy. The remote is tedious to operate and program indeed. The receiver is not even a year old and the pre-channel for the front right side blew and was sending distortion for both A and B speaker sets. One thing that annoyed me was that there was no Optical input for DVD audio. Only SA-CD, MD/Tape and Digital Satellite had optical inputs.
Summary: I purchased this receiver with Sony's SA-VE367T 7.1 speaker system. Circuit City offered a package deal and a great price. I had been wanting to upgrade to 7.1 but wasn't willing to spend thousands my first go-round. Biggest tip: BUY THE BEST QUALITY A/V CABLES YOU CAN AFFORD!! I went with Monster's products and the difference was truly amazing. I wasn't a believer until after getting everything wired up and connected.
Summary: This is my 3 Sony receiver and they have all worked flawlessly. This one replaces a lower rung Sony 5.1 receiver. This is my first in the silver color and it is stunning, with the front having a brushed aluminum look. It compliments all the other components that seem to have turned silver overnight. This receiver has tons of inputs for everything.
Summary: This is a great unit for the price. The set up went fairly smoothly. I have to admit that I am not 100% sure that the "sound" is optimized to my listening area, but that is probably due to my own (in)abilities as an audio technician. The receiver has plenty of power for the 13'x17' room in which it is installed. The remote is easy to use and I was able to program it to operate all of my other gear except the Comcast HDTV/DVR Cable box.
