Summary: I have this unit. It was more than ample filling a 24 by 35 great room with fair quality sound. It has way too many sound field selections AND YES, it can be turned off by the remote. But it just died. Of course, it is more than 7 years old and out of warrantee. No one will service this thing. Sony promises to take a look at the unit for $122 so long as I ship it to them ($expensive$). It seems more cost efficient to simply buy a new unit. Oh Well.
Sony makes a good receiver, but this isn't up to par...

Summary: Don't get me wrong, I like Sony products... a lot. I guessthat's why I'm not too gung-ho about this one. I've owned many Sonyreceivers, and to tell the truth, the DEx35 line is the most disappointed I've been thoughout it all. To be fair, I've got the DE935, same as this, except with a two-way LCD remote, front A/V in, and multiroom out. My reason for upgrading from the previous year's model was for S-Video support and DTS decoding.
