One Operational question regarding this Sony Amp

MelAus, Amazon
4 November 2015
  • Summary: All seems fine with this unit, agree with most of the reviews pointing out the user experiences. One thing someone may be able to help with regarding the internal fan...I am testing this receiver out of any cabinet before a final installation, and have yet to see the internal fan actually working.

Pricey - But Well Worth IT

LTC STEVEN S. FITZGERALD, Amazon
6 September 2013
  • Summary: Didn't realize Sony made high end audio components - this one, granted a little on the pricey side, but well worth the cost - loaded with capabilities - setup was pretty easy - especially like the built in Ethernet Switch - audio output is great, and very impressed with the HDMI Pass-Through...

Best AV Receiver

Kevin D. Keepers, Amazon
6 September 2013
  • Summary: This is not a cheap receiver but is worth every penny. I can operate all my equipment from one remote and from my iPhone as well. Setup was easy and the auto-calibration system set all my speakers to a perfectly balanced level.

Sony, Still going strong

Earthroamer, Amazon
6 September 2013
  • Summary: I replaced my 18 year old Sony DA80ES receiver which finally had technical issues with the new Sony STR-DA5800ES. Prior to purchasing the STR-DA5800ES, I tried some cheaper $700 receivers, but none of them held a candle to my old DA80ES.

Wonderful sound, build quality and looks and has aged remarkably well, but does not support key emerging capabilities

CRT, Amazon
6 September 2013
  • Summary: SHORT REVIEW A great A/V receiver with wonderful sound, build quality and looks that has aged remarkably well, but does not support key emerging video and audio standards. If you do not care about Ultra High Def video, Dolby Atmos or require compensation for a difficult listening environment it is...

Sony STR-DA5800ES A/V receiver is a great choice for both home theater impact and musical brilliance!

HomeTheaterGuru, Amazon
6 September 2013
  • Summary: Sony STR-DA5800ES is a spectacular A/V receiver with multitudes of connectivity including 9 HDMI inputs and 3 outputs (one for zone 2.) This product replaced an 17 or so year old Denon, which still works and will be used elsewhere.

Great Sound Quality can't Bi-Amp and have 7.1 at same time.

RockOperaRat, Amazon
6 September 2013
  • Summary: I am a listener who must hear everything from the movie or music. Every breath, whisper, every instrument within the orchestra (not just a blended orchestral sound). I have to clearly hear every hit on a drum/cymbal from Neil Peart's Drum kit to the point I can tell where on the drum head it was...

Sony STR-DA5800ES 9.2

Maitham I. Alatram, Amazon
6 September 2013
  • Summary: I've been with Sony products since 1998, yes it's about 14 years, before I’ve perches this model i used to have the DA5400ES 7.1 channel and it was great except for two things, it doesn't have LAN internet connection and can't pass Blu-ray 3D.

A great receiver with home automation capabilities

SincLabs, Amazon
6 September 2013
  • Summary: I recently upgraded my Sony STR-DA6400ES receiver which was top of the line about 3 years ago now. I mainly did this because I ran out of HDMI ports and felt a newer receiver would be a good idea. I was a bit concerned that this receiver might be a lower model than my STR-DA6400ES model.

Completely Blown Away

William, Amazon
6 September 2013
  • Summary: I did a strait swap-out of my Onkyo TX-NR1009 last night (same wiring, same HDMI connections, speakers, etc) and I have to say that the difference couldn't be more profound. The audio quality for music and bluray playback is simply phenomenal.
