Summary: I have owned this receiver for more than a year and I have been wanting to replace it since I plugged it in. The first thing I noticed was the persistent low hum - when the unit was off. I figured it was some sort of setup issue or maybe another component causing interference. I spent a good chunk of time trying to find the source and eventually discovered that it was the powered sub - a Sony!! Never could fix it.
Summary: The "award winning" GIU is lame and slow. The XM input broke off the circuit board. Because it is "physical damage" its not covered under warranty, even tho it was never soldered to the board. The sound is amazing but not for the price. I've put it up on a shelf and am using my old Sony receiver form 1997 because IT STILL WORKS. SONY quality is not what it used to be and they don't care. Save money and headache by buying something other than Sony.
