Summary: Great receiver, excellent sound, good price. We bought it to replace a very expensive Marantz that caused a loud buzzing sound whenever it was turned on. It only lasted 4 years, two of which we put up with the buzz. Looking forward to seeing how long the Sony gives us great sound.
Summary: I've owned this receiver for about 6 years now and I refuse to give it up. Reason being, this is the best receiver I've ever owned. I have had to replace it in my living room due the lack of hdmi out puts or in puts. I have a str-da4400es in my living room now and it does not even compare. The 3000es does not heat up like my new one. One of the cleanest sounding receivers you'll ever hear. I can't figure out why sony quit putting s master in their units.
Summary: I deceided to upgrade to a 7.1 system and i think i found the perfect one for me , it has plenty of power at 150 x 7 and all the inputs i need for now and the future . Overall i am very happy with my purchase .
Summary: Im not sure what the previous reviewers problems were? But My sony STR-DA3000 ES has been working perfectly for 3 years now. I have driving my 7.1 setup of Mirage Omnistats and Polk Sub in the Game room and controling the XM/CD music piped outside under our two decks! Ive been in Electrical/Software Engineering for 26 years and a Musician for 33 years, I know sound and I know power and this provides both very well.
Summary: Great receiver lot of power for your dollor. Five optical outs 2 Hd outs easy to configure. Rear speakers were much louder then my previous amp. My system is 7.1 with two and this amp drives it very well and clean.
HORRIBLE, This receiver didn't work or even PLAY static OUT OF THE BOX NEW!!!

Summary: ZERO TO NEGATIVE STARS. I don't know if I can blame it on the retailer because there might have been a recall on these or what. It took me 2 months and 9 or 10 hours of wasted time with SONY service. After the technicians couldn't fix at Sony HQ in San Diego I received a full refund. I should have recieved a refund for valuable TIME. I would bill that at $100 an hour MINIMUM!!
Summary: Sony replaced an older es model of mine with this after my old one broke. It took Sony "9 months" to replace the receiver. After numerous calls to rude operators with no answers I finally threatened to sue. Only then did I get my replacement. My new receiver has been broken since i got it and am afraid to return it. Sony makes decent products but even the store where i bought the receiver says Sony has the worst customer service.
