Sony STR DA5200ES With no video output and intermittent sound.
10 June 2013
Summary: This unit worked fine for a few days, then lost picture but still had sound. The picture and sound connections basically connects through this unit making it impossible to use when you loose the video output. There was also an annoying intermmittent crackling sound in audio when problem started.
Summary: This is a wonderful unit. Most of us will NEVER use all the features this unit has to offer. I have really good Polk speakers (5.1) with a sub woofer for my sound. I have my TV set up as the HDMI monitor (50-inch Pioneer Elite).
Summary: This is NOT an over priced receiver it is a very high end piece of equipment that can turn any room into a audio/ wonder land. I know that sounds a little corny but if you spent a minute listening to ANY of the ES line receivers installed properly you will know exactly what I amc speaking of.
Summary: THIS THING DOES IT ALL. POWERFUL, GREAT VIDEO , ALL THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD NEGATIVES TO SAY MUST HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THEIR EQUIPMENT. I REALLY GOT A TREMENDOUS DEAL WITH THIS BABY. I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER. THANK YOU SONY....
Does not down-convert component video for Zone 2 or PiP

Summary: I bought this because I wanted to use it's Zone 2 video, and PiP (picture-in-picture) features. I knew going in that the Zone 2 Video output was composite only, and that the receiver turns off HDMI output when you use PiP, but that was OK for my purposes.
Summary: I couldnt notice any significant upscaling from my s-video input. Audio wouldnt come throught the HDMI cable. Occasionally when you change the input, either the video or audio stops. and you had to switch off and back on again to get both back.
Summary: I have had this receiver for 8 months or so and it sounded great but untill i hocked it up to a 52"sony xbr5 lcd using monster m series hdmi from ShopAllMonster.com cables i didnt know what i was missing,i'm using it with bose 6.1 speaker system and now i hear sounds in movies i had watched before...
Summary: The Sony STR DA5200ES is a big, powerful and versatile receiver with a lot of features. There are plenty of input jacks and an almost-adequate system for mapping them to the various inputs. The on-screen user interface is pretty good and reasonably easy to use.
Summary: LIKES: Gobs of power. Lots of I/O versatility. Auto calibration feature makes rough setup very easy. Farouda processor chipset for very good upscaling performance (I use a 720P Optoma HD73 front projector projected to 120' diagonal). Styling fits nicely with my other Sony products.
Summary: When hooked up properly using high end HDMI cables as you would expect, IE: you don’t buy a Ferrari and put regular gas in it, The picture quality and celerity does not compare to anything on the market for home theater under $1500, The power in full digital mode keeps it cool while putting out so...
