Summary: Works great, have a simple surround hooked up with a 40" LCD HDTV and DVD player. I am not a stereophile but appreciate a good movie with surround and blasting a good tune. Has plenty of power for me (10 x 12 room - open to the next room). Even hooked it to a pair of outdoor speakers.
Summary: Just picked up this receiver from Amazon for $249 in total and finally got done installing it (manual has to be read in order to take full advantage of all features of this receiver). I'll sum up my initial impressions w/ the +s and -s bullets: + Great features in low cost receiver.
Summary: Initially I was skeptical that this receiver would be any good given it's price (which was below $250 during Amazon sale). I switched from a Pioneer VSX-816, which I liked a lot, mainly to get HDMI switching at an affordable price.
Summary: Works great. Although, if I had to buy another I wouldn't spend the extra money to get the HDMI options. I ended up having to plug PS3 directly into the TV and digital audio into the receiver. The receiver does not pull the audio out of the HDMI stream, so it doesn't pay to spend the money.
Summary: This unit is very easy to hook up. It does take a little time especially if you have a lot of components like me. The menu's are easy to follow and setup. The auto calibration could be little more refined. All in all this unit is excellent.
