Great when played with or without an equalizer. Couldn't be happier.

Summary: I don't know why some people are giving this great stereo poor reviews. Yeah, the instructions might seem confusing to some but everything I wanted the stereo to do I figured out how to make it do it pretty much on my own. As for how you listen to music and movies you can choose to listen to the way the studio engineers intended you to with the touch of a button(A Direct mode) or you can use an equalizer(EQ mode).
Summary: This is a great product for a few reasons. +It allows you to connect a multitude of devices through many different types of input +It allows you to connect a multitude of speakers with 110 Watts per channel at 8 or 16 ohms. +It acts as a powerful radio reciever for AM and FM signals as well as an input if you have XM satellite service +It is a sleek, smooth, angular piece of electronic equipment. It will sex up any living room's decor.
Summary: I've had the STR-DG600 receiver for more than a month, now, and it works great. The power is more than enough for my living room, and full volume is VERY loud on my Sony SA-FT1H flat panel speakers, and the sound is great. I especially like the Digital Cinema Sound for movies. It really does sound like there are multiple speakers down the sides, just like in a theater. Altogether a great receiver at a great price.
Summary: Lots of features, great sound, I really like the multiple optical and digital sound inputs for DVD, cable box, etc. The remote control is on the small side, and the feature menus are very in depth, which is a double edged sword. Lots of ways to "tweak" the output, but takes a while to figure out all of the features.
Summary: I have always had luck with Sony. This receiver has enough input/output ports to include every stereo componant as well as the DVD, VCR and game console. Has several optional speaker combinations which work great for utilizing throughout the house.
Summary: I gave it five stars because I am rating on bang for the buck! If you are not a pro and are looking for value for your money, this is it. It has a very nice and crisp sound, I have a surround system and the moives sound great!Plus, Sony's reliability is something to consider in the long run.
Summary: I picked up this receiver for $200 plus $40 shipping. At that price it's hard to go wrong unless the receiver just doesn't work. The good thing is that the receiver does work and works well. The auto calibrate function is excellent as it kept me from having to go through the menu and enter distances and other characteristics about the speakers. Just start the calibration, walk out of the room and come back in a few minutes.
Summary: I bought this two months ago because my "old" STR-DA80ES speaker output failed and it would've cost about $250 and three weeks to get it fixed. Although the STR-DG600 7.1 is much lighter and "feels" cheaper than the STR-DA80ES it was easier to set up, and it works better. The remote operates all my old Sony gear. Although the owner's manual contains too much information, and is confusing, I used the basic 5.1 setup and used all factory settings.
