Summary: I was looking for a receiver with hdmi switching that was not too expensive. While I have not utilized this receiver to it fullest, it was an excellent replacement for my expired Sony STRDE495.
Summary: I am giving this receiver a good review because it met all of my needs at a cost that is exceptional. It was bought specifically for a LED Flat panel TV that I have in my covered outdoor kitchen. I didn't want to spend a whole lot of money on something that may end up getting damaged due to the Florida humidity (I put a towel over it at night). It is driving two Proficient 6 1/2 speakers and has plenty of power for loud parties.
Summary: SHERWOOD RECEIVER IS OK STILL HAVING SOME PROBLEMS GETTING THE SUB WOOFER TO OPERATE CORRECTLY OTHER THEN THAT I'AM OK WITH THE PRICE,AND THE AMOUNT OF TIME IT TOOK TO RECEIVE IT WOULD LIKE SOME TIPS ON AN EASY WAY OF GETTING THE POWERED SUB WOOFER TO WORK PROPERLY
Summary: The unit works well enough for a small home theater unit, but be forewarned, it has HDMI switching only! It does not take digital audio from HDMI, your digital sources must be connected via optical or coax to get audio. Very, VERY poor design. It will only handle VIDEO thru HDMI, NOT digital audio! BEWARE!
Summary: PROS: Lots of ways to connect. Optical In, HDMI, Dolby 5.1, Good sound (after you get the levels set). CONS: First bad thing that happened to me was the unit defaulted to surround sound. I only had stereo speakers hooked up. As such, the sound was really low until I discovered I needed to click the "stereo" button. However that is not all. You can actually control the level of output to left or right channels. Mine was set unusually low.
Summary: First let me say I received this in one day via Amazon's fullfillment. Which is amazing. It pays to live 1 hour from their warehouses. I haven't hooked it up yet, but I wanted to give my vote as to why this avr is not such a bad bargain. What someone said is true. It doesn't decode dts. But if you have a dvd player or blu ray that decodes that and you run it through this(as you should be) you should be ok.
Summary: This receiver puts out good power and sound quality. The inputs and outputs allow for a lot of different setups. Two things to be aware of is that you need to connect a powered subwoofer and the volume buttons on the remote are ridiculously small and not easily found in low light.
