Summary: This is my third one, the other two failed for different reasons. I needed a shallow depth one and this was the only one available. It is a great unit when it works and I was very disappointed the other two failed. I called Sherwood and there doesn't seem to be a high failure rate. I was told it most likely was a coincidence.
great size, runs hot, some features don't work as advertised

Summary: If you want a basic 7.1 (or 5.1 in my case) receiver that fits in small places, this is a solid choice. Useless EQ settings aside (the usual Movie, Concert, etc settings that sound horrible), you can simply adjust the bass/treble and individual channel settings and get fairly clear, well-rounded sound from this amp. I don't have a high-end setup but it easily drives my large-ish bookshelf and center channel speakers.
Summary: Our primary goal in picking this model was its low-profile form factor. We needed to fit a receiver into a 5.5" opening in our cabinet and there weren't a lot of AV receivers that would fit. The VuNow network feature is hit-and-miss. It's clever but it only uses a 4:3 image on our 16:9 HDTV. We have a 5Mbps internet connection and the video streaming is adequate in terms of quality, but not great.
Summary: I purchased this receiver thinking that it would work for a 2 zone audio and for the internet radio feature. For the money, the sound is pretty good and it has some very good features. However, zone 2 only plays in stereo and is not enhanced by the other sound equalizer functions. So zone 1 sounds much better, even though they are the same speakers.
Summary: This is my first review on Amazon. I live in a small house with my girlfriend who watches a lot of soap operas. I can hear them right through the wall and am always asking her to turn down the TV. I heard about Dolby Volume in a podcast (Dolbycast podcast) and was intrigued. Dolby Volume is a new technology they've licensed which basically allows you to hear the full spectrum of audio content at much lower volumes.
