Finally, a weather radio I can live with

Speed, Amazon
3 October 2014
 • Summary: I've been in the market for a home weather radio for a few years now (yes, a few years). It was actually a frustrating search as I couldn't find one that had all of the features I wanted without annoying issues.

Great Alert Radio!

Family of 5, J&R
27 February 2014
 • Excerpt: Like the option to silence certain alerts - those alerts that aren't life-threatening that we don't want to be disturbed by in the middle of the night. There are three levels of alert volume.
 • Pros: Good Sound Quality, Great Reception, Lots Of Alert Options

 • Summary: We needed to replace a small portable weather band alert radio that was damaged by leaking batteries. After researching as best we could, we found that this Sangean radio, though not a "portable," offered everything we wanted.

Sangean CL-100 Portable Clock Radio - Stereo

neddyranal, Overstock
2 January 2014
 • Summary: I love this little radio. I got it as a gift for my husband, who is a ski junkie and loves checking the weather alerts. I love that we can plug it in but also rely on batteries when needed. It has a cool retro design with a small digital display, so looks cool sitting out on display.

Excellent Radio

David I., Newegg
12 December 2013
 • Summary: If you live far away from stations you can increase your reception drastically by wrapping a wire around the built-in telescopic antenna and then extending that in whatever direction works best for you. Try to put this unit near a window for best reception.
 • Pros: Sensitive receiver. Many choices for enabling or disabling emergency messages. FM receiver is also very good and pulls stations in very well. Bass and Treble adjustment. Will auto set your date and time via RDBS (If you have a station in your area with accurate time). Sound quality is very good. ...
 • Cons: All the external connections are on the back. If it's sitting on the windows sill like mine there may not be enough room for the plugin cables. It must sit flat desktop style due to it's angled display.

great little radio

Dot, J&R
10 July 2013
 • Excerpt: Use it on table to get news in the morning. AM stations pick up pretty well without an exterior antenna, FM is excellent. Nice to be able to program which county you want to get weather alerts for.
 • Pros: Easy to Use

 • Excerpt: Lots of nice features for a weather radio. Easy to set up. Very good reception without any additional antennas.

The display is at a bad angle. Best viewing is from above. Not good on a night stand next to the bed at eye level. Can't see the display from a cross the room.
 • Pros: Accurate, Easy to Use, Good Value, Lots of Features, Nice Features, Reliable
 • Cons: Display Could Be Better

 • Summary: There are a large number of good reviews of this product here on amazon, but if you notice, all of those have been written within a month of receiving this product. Mine worked too, for the first month or two - then it just died.
