Summary: I bought this receiver in June of 2013. I did the best I could researching AV receivers that stream Pandora and selected the Pioneer VSX-822. I regret it. The streaming for Pandora stops working anywhere between 2-6 times daily (I listen to music all day long). My other IP streaming devices DO NOT drop the stream – so it’s this receiver that’s faulty.
Summary: Clean and powerful sound. Definite upgrade to my old Kenwood receiver. Makes movies sound even livelier. Has stronger punch than my old unit, which was pretty good. Just be patient with the set-up process, especially in bringing up the menu to show up on your TV monitor (you have to press the "receiver" button). Quite happy with it so far and got it at a bargain, one day only, price to boot (149)!

Summary: The receiver worked for the first 15 months, however then the HDMI out stopped working. I search the Internet only to find out that this was a common problem affecting a number of the Pioneer receivers. I called Pioneer only to be told that it was beyond the 1 year warrantee period and therefore no warrantee service. Remember the days when receivers lasted forever and you only replaced them because the technology changed significantly. Not any more.
Summary: Setting up the receiver does take some expertise. Setting up Vtunes is easy, just follow the instructions on the web page. Setting up the remote to control other components is little tougher than expected. Still haven't mastered its programming and controls of other equipment. Overall though the receiver has excellent sound and I would recommend it to a friend.
Summary: I had a Pioneer last time, too, and it worked perfectly - in fact, much better than the surge-protection power cord, apparently, because the cord didn't work. So I found this model and have been using it now for several months. It's had nicer features than the one I had before, and the speaker set-up is really user-friendly.
