Absolutely crummy interface. But good receiver.

Herbert E. Taylor "World Traveler1", Amazon
10 February 2013
  • Summary: I hadn't purchased a new receiver in more than 10 years. So when I got this one to go with my TV set I wasn't quite sure what to hook up other than the speakers and the HDMI output cable to the set. Worse than that this has the worse manual I have ever seen for any appliance or electronic devices.

  • Summary: It works just fine. I am only running two main speakers and one center channel. Some of the different advanced surround settings sound unnatural.

very nice with great sound

Bob, Amazon

  • Summary: My first AV receiver so I guess it might impress me more than a seasoned vet. I love the sound and have it hooked up too 4 x 250 watt cat tower speakers 2 x vintage 70's 250 watt sansui, 1 poke powered sub woofer and poke center speaker. It did take some getting used to it and getting it set up the way I like but now I love it. I used most speakers I had laying around and just added the sub and center channel.

Excellent Sound Quality. Very Outdated User Interface.

C. Medlin, Amazon
3 June 2012
  • Summary: I bought this receiver along with Pioneer SP-BS41-LR bookshelf speakers, a Pioneer SP-C21 center channel speaker, and the Pioneer SW-8 Subwoofer. I have been very happy with the sound quality - it is excellent for both music and movies. As others have noted the user interface is not very good and very outdated.

TV lip sync problem; can't covert composite to component.

HiTechHiTouch, Amazon
30 January 2012
  • Summary: Pro: ..Sound is nice ..Automatic setup with included microphone Con: ..Sound delay adjustment hidden deep in manual -- see page 35. ..Noticeable delay with sound from TV -- lips out of sync. ..Can not convert a composite video signal to component video, which is technically trivial. ..HD control function keeps changing the Pioneer to TV/Sat mode. Nits: ..Remote doesn't support some old and some new devices. Can not learn. .

Great product at a great price.

pbrangerman, Ebay

  • Summary: I installed this receiver with my Polk speakers. I have two tower speakers, a center channel, two rear in-wall speakers and a 10" sub. The Pioneer drives all of them perfectly. It is crystal clear even at maximum volume. The mp3 player plug-in works awesome. Just wish the max volume was a bit more.

Great AV receiver

Amazon Customer "family man", Amazon
30 May 2011
  • Summary: This is a great AV receiver and occupies the sweet spot for value in pioneer's line this year. The features and connection settings are plenty for my use. I like the UI for setting up settings including the sound calibration settings for the room. The remote is basic and i wish it could have a night glow feature.

Great product

Nicolas Dickreuter, Amazon
6 November 2012
  • Summary: I've been using it for 6 months now and it works great! I play all my music directly via airplay from my iphone and ipad. The remote control can be custimized so it can be used for TV and Satellite receiver as well. The setup takes a little bit of time but I'm surprised that other reviews put this up as an issue.
