Summary: It's 5 years now since I bought this Pioneer Amplifier and up to now it still works like new...I installed 7 Bose speakers on this amp. and a 200watt Infinity active Subwoofer works really well. All my guest and relatives love to sing and watch movies at my house because of this Sound system. What can I say WOW Pioneer. Woooohoooo.
Summary: I ordered this receiver after my 9 year old Technics lost the ability to play digital signals. I did get this at the year end sale price of 180 bucks so that my influence my review a bit. After my old one died I was looking for something cheap just to get my 5.1 working again. I was actually looking on e bay and Amazon for something used so I was not ready to spend a lot of cash. That is when I ran across this Pionner receiver.
Overall good, but gets hot, remote doesn't control all devices

Summary: We bought this to replace an old Pioneer receiver that was no longer working. It has the capability to be much more that what we need, so this is a limited review. It does get hot in our stereo cabinet when the glass door is closed if it is on for a few hours. I was disappointed with the remote. It will turn our non-Pioneer CD player on & off, but will not allow any other functions. Even to play a CD I have to go over to the unit and push the button.
Summary: Pioneer is the leader in home audio and if you want ground shaking home theater sound and the feeling that you are in the middle of the battle or flying your own X WING FIGHTER--you need this system!!! It also features an XM and SIRIUS radio input that reads the special component that will display the radio contents in the screen on the dial. It is available from XM and very cool. Plus its like 7.1 surround and powerful.
Summary: I'm very happy with this receiver, it has a lots of power and sounds great through my JBL'S. I'm not even using the surround sound capabilitys yet but just the stereo mode sounds great with the CD's, DVD'S, and TV. It looks great too with the blue lights.
Summary: 4 out 5 stars- a good reciever for the price and $200 dollars cheaper than best buy. To save much time and aggravation however- please remember that you won't get sound with just the HDMI wire connection- you must add an audio (optical/ etc..) wire hook up as well.
Summary: This is the most important thing you need to know about this receiver. If you are either hoping to have only one cable from your tv to your receiver -- or if you are planning on enjoying true 7.1 surround... this is not the receiver you want. However, if you don't care about having to run a separate cable for audio or are perfectly content with 5.1 surround -- this is a nice unit.
Summary: HDMI sounds like a great idea, a single cable that can support audio and video. The problems come when using devices like this one. This unit will not input audio through HDMI. It will pass audio though via HDMI, but that does not help. You must use additional audio cables with this receiver. I guess it's cheaper to build them that way. I returned this item for that one reason.
