Summary: I read most of the reviews and its not that hard to hook up but what is really wrong with this I paid for two day delivery got it in 6 but I got it and I was like a 5 year old could not wait, I had memories of my old pioneer (I still have) I bought when I was in the military, it was hard to find...
Long time Pioneer fan, but not impressed with this receiver.

Summary: I've had two Pioneer receiver for the past 11 years or so (bought them about the same time) and have been very happy with them both. Decided to upgrade to the newer models that offer HDMI switching. Bought this Pioneer VSX-821 and the Yamaha RX-V371. Both were priced under $180 and both 5.1.
Summary: Trust me when I say this: You are not getting the amount of features you think you're getting with this unit. For starters? No equalizer. The 10 year old Sony that I had (same price range) had an equalizer that let you adjust the response frequency and levels of the bass mid and treble.
Summary: As I was setting this up I kept saying over and over "IT JUST SHOULD NOT BE THIS DIFFICULT!!" I bought this to replace a 'first generation' 5.1 surround sound system I got many years ago. About me, I'm not an idiot when it comes to A/V gear and I can set most anything up.
