Summary: Two years after purchasing the VSX-820, a circuit board failed. Repairs would have cost $230 so we recycled this product. I am not mourning the loss. I wasn't happy with the VSX-820 from the get-go anyway. Here's why: 1) No audio out for a TV.
Summary: I have purchased Sony receivers for years. The Sony's always seemed to crap out after 7-8 years, so I decided to get a different brand. I read good things about the Pioneer receivers, so I purchased this one. Bad mistake.
Summary: If they stood by their brand, it actually (so far) seems to be a good product for the two days I had it. I should be getting the replacement tomorrow. Hopefully all will be well.
Pros: Two fold. First, I fought for an entire day trying to get the OSD to work. I finally tested the remote and the one button that runs this menu was out. All other buttons worked. I called NewEgg and they stated I needed to contact Pioneer. Pioneer made the claim that they will not warranty it b/c N...
Cons: The biggest con to this pioneer is the OSD (On screen display). It ONLY works through component/composite video. All my equipment is HDMI, but have to have a component connected and my TV set to that input just to get to the receivers menu.
