Summary: It's an ok unit, has flaws though. The USB port came loose and doesn't work correctly anymore. Half the time you turn the unit on the left speakers have sound coming from it then you have to flip through the speaker channels to get the right side working.
Terrible iPod Onscreen Menu / HDMI Repeater Problem
21 September 2009
Summary: I purchased this product after comparing reviews of it and similar products. This is my third Pioneer A/V Receiver over several years. I am generally pleased with the product but there are a couple of things that could be improved. First, my Time Warner Cable box (Scientific Atlanta 8240HDC) does not play well with this receiver's HDMI "repeater".
Summary: I needed a two-channel (stereo) audio device for my sun-room. Unfortunately, these days you have to buy a 5.1 or 7.1 receiver even if you only need a quality stereo amplifier. So, I chose this Pioneer (VSX 819H-K) especially because of its built-in I-pod usb port and the supplied i-pod cable. I don't use the Pioneer for my home theater or to listen to AM/FM radio.
