Summary: I bought this receiver shortly before it was replaced by XX-60? whatever and got a killer deal, out of box further discounted (it was bought for a custom build but wouldn't fit the enclosure). Other reviews are correct, it takes time and study to get this right and brother, when you do, WOW! I'm still not sure if I got it all the way correct or not. I need another pair of trained ears to check it out.
Summary: I purchase the AV receiver on December 2011 and I am impressed with its advanced features and quality of sound. System set-up was simple if you are technically savvy and know what type sound configuration you want in the system. The book instructions were clear with a lot of options. I was able to test each function (combined multiple settings) if you have the patience to dial in the ultimate sound output.
Summary: I replaced a sony STRDA5200ES reciever with this Pioneer VSX 52 The Sony cost twice as much yet was not 3D compatible. The Pioneer sounds better and works with my Samsung 55in flat screen in my bedroom well. Now I may replace my bose system in the family room with the pioneer. It has plenty of power and is very versitile. I also purchased the blue tooth adapter to stream my IPhone music to the room.
Summary: Pioneer has truly hit the ball out of the park with this product. I have everything (Blu Ray, Apple TV, etc.)hooked up to receiver via HDMI cables. Just bought a 65" plasma to go with this. I can control the receiver with my IPhone. Absolutely love it!!!
Summary: My husband is a pioneer man, he picked this item for me (because my new tv needed an upgrade receiver my current pioneer receiver is 12 yrs old) anyway, this receiver has everything we needed for runing the new 92" 3D TV, love the look and sound it puts out, we play all the systems thru it to the TV, company was great with keeping us informed as to the shipping and delivery of receiver, now they sent 2 receivers (an error) the only issue was trying to get a real person...
Summary: I just changer from a Harmon Kardon 2600 to this vsx52. While the HK had good bass power this Pioneer does better. I don't need a sub as I'm running all Cerwin Vega speakers, 15" woofers for the front, 12" for the surround speakers and a CV center. Love the ipod connection, but would be nice if it would connect to the back instead of the front of the amp to keep the white cord out of the way. Heavy with features to configure all music sources for Premium sound.
Summary: Great clarity and definition doesn't quite have the punch of my old ONKYO 606 though. This unit is not for novices there are more adjustments than any unit I have owned. If you don't know what your doing the sound may be a little flat. EDIT: It has the punch I just had to change a setting to the Sub.
Summary: First, please be aware that anytime you purchase a Pioneer ELITE product online, it is not official and voids the manufaturer warranty. So, you need to factor in purchasing a Square Trade warranty online, which is a good warranty and shouldn't be more than $80. However, I took the chance on buying this receiver online and saved over $250 than if I'd purchased it in a store, as these AirPlay receivers don't usually go on sale.
Summary: This is my third Pioneer receiver, and my second "Elite". This replaces a TXV74, which was heavier, more "powerful" at 140 Watts per channel, and also more cluttered inside with boards and wires and what not. This new one is not svelte, but it certainly has less clutter in its guts. It is quite easy to see into (and through) the receiver in some parts.
Summary: my home theater setup with this receiver includes the ff: samsung 46" lcd tv, samsung bd-c6800, apple tv2, directv sat receiver, jbl es series speakers (es90 as fronts, es25c as center, es30 as surrounds and es250pwch as my wireless sub). in addition, im also using the icontrolav2 app for ipad2 and iphone 4s...GOT THIS AWESOME RECEIVER IN BB FOR 715$ and i was so happy with it..
