Try something simpler

Doug S., Amazon
24 May 2015
  • Summary: Insanely difficult to use, no manual-book with purchase only a CD; don't lose it or your screwed. Can't change basic settings like balance, bass or treble without going through an onscreen menu using the CD.

Oversized Paperweight

Jan P., Newegg
15 May 2015
  • Summary: The customer support of Pioneer is weird - first of all navigation on their page is absolute mystery to me, no links to warranty service, returns or repairs, all there is are FAQs and that's about it.
  • Pros: -Nice design -That's it..
  • Cons: -The menu only comes up through the RCA -HDMI never worked -Dolby is weird - only sends chimes to the rear channel -Send lower frequencies only to the sub, therefor if you have tower speakers hooked up in the front channels all you get is tweeter and med -Died after six months of occasional use (...

Jason P. Macor "ace man", Amazon
6 December 2014
  • Summary: A bit fiddly concerning channels within each source (HDMI, Component etc all on one source, and then switching between type can be annoying). Not really an issue on sources where you only have one thing plugged in, since it auto detects power coming into the right type, but annoying for things like...

Jerry H., Newegg
30 November 2014
  • Pros: I never really used enough to review much beyond it sounded good with the CD and MP3 and Blue ray.
  • Cons: was a pain to get it to set up to stop scrolling all the features I didn't care about across the display. now barely over a year so the warranty is out the audio has started cutting out regardless of the input type or channel. ie hdmi, blue ray, rca game, or rca CD player.. I used to love PIONEER...

Works with difficulty

Eric L., Newegg
17 November 2014
  • Summary: Once you get it configured it works well, just don't change anything!
  • Pros: It gets the job done and is cheap
  • Cons: The interface is very difficult to use. VGA cable if you want on screen menu system?! Settings are hard to find and change, such as audio source. Had a few hiccups with it not detecting a video that was fixed after changing source or restarting the system.

Richard, Amazon
17 October 2014
  • Summary: The unit worked well but has one major problem. That is the bass and loudness controls have no effect on the sound from the subwoofer even though the front panel display shows them working. There is no change in bass volume.

Died twice in a year and a half

Ronald Z., Newegg
24 September 2014
  • Summary: Device died on me two times. First time after 10 months; fixed under warranty. I thought it was just a lemon, but 8 months later, it had the SAME EXACT issue and won't even turn on. No, the fuse/breaker in the device didn't trip. The whole circuit board was just dead.
  • Pros: Very cheap, easily customizable settings. Served me for a year and a half.
  • Cons: on-screen menu can only be viewed via analog signals. Meaning you need an analog output device to adjust some of the settings on the unit. This unit supports HDMI, but can't view their settings through it. What generation are we living in again?
