Summary: Overall its a good amp and has a lot of features. It is not any where close to 125 watt( 5 x 125 =625 and the unit only uses 430 watts fraud, False advertizing! so no mater what good qualities it might have a lie ruins it for me. This is how ebay will end up losing buisiness....lost mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Summary: I bought this to replace a much older receiver. This one has greater capabilites to expand as technology changes with DVR's, Blu-Ray, 3-D, etc. Uses include, turntable, DVR, TV, FM with room to expand.
Pros: Accurate Controls, Easy To Setup, Energy Efficient, Good Power Output, Good Remote Control, Great Sound Quality
Summary: I am tech savvy and have been around sound equipment for decades. This unit takes a careful, detail oriented person to set up. Even I, and I say that modestly, had a heck of a time to get it right. I also found that the included microphone for 5:1 speaker balance did not work - or it was so difficult to figure out that I never got it to work. The manual is pretty well written but not perfect. Assumes things.
Pros: Energy Efficient, Good Power Output, Great Sound Quality, State of the art inout
Cons: Confusing / Bad Remote Control, Difficult To Set Up
Summary: Bought this product on low expectations as I tried it out on the store, hooked up to an iPod and d«thought the sound was not all that great. Bought the one sold in kit with the speakers. When I arrived home, installed it in place and finally turned it on after MCACC did it's job it was a hole different thing. With speakers set in place and at hear level and after MCACC, it sounded great with rich sounds.
Pros: Very clean sound, great for movies and very flexible. Decent for music, even better than I would expect
Summary: I bought this receiver together with Pioneer speakers and it is wonderful! Clear sound, easy to set, many surround options (Dolby Pro Logic, stereo, game/movie etc.) The only issue we had was problem with basic setup: you can't see an on-screen menu (OSD) when you connect TV to receiver via HDMI output and composite connection is needed. Overall we're very pleased with this equipment and it was great bargain for price!
Summary: I bought this VSX-521-k because it had a good review as a budget surround amp in What Hi-Fi Sound and Vision and a few decent reviews on the web. It is what it's advertised as, a good budget surround amp. Bit complicated to set up definitely not plug and play! I've got a Sony DVD HDD Freeview connected by co-ax and my Virgin box + Samsung TV both connected with optical cables. My PS3 had to be connected with analogue audio cable.
Summary: I purchased this pioneer av receiver a few days ago. i have connect my virgin HD box, blueray and HTPC to it via HDMI in. and a single 1.4v HDMI out to my samsung led tv. everything is working as it should and the power is more than enough to make the hair on at the back of your neck stand up after watching the dark knight in 1080p.
