Summary: I purchased this receiver based partly on the longer warranty period and partly on the Pioneer reputation. As far as I am concerned it fails both tests. At 2years + 2 months the HDMI board died. Pioneer support, in polite terms, told me to FO. I paid the investigation fee to the local service center and the replacement cost for the board, without labor, is more than the MSRP.
Do NOT Buy Pioneer Receivers Online - There is NO Warranty!!!!!

Summary: Beware! This is Pioneers policy and applies to all receivers purchased online. They do not honor any service warranty. I have had 2 warranty related problems. They finally sucked it up and granted me a one time exclusion so I didn't get charged for the repair. However, I did have to pay $90 shipping to send it from Tucson to Phoenix. It's 3 months later and I have the same problem - no sound coming from the receiver.
Summary: The VSX-50 was defective out of the box. Pioneer not so helpful. Vendor stepped up to the plate took care of the problem, replaced the Unit all is well! Vendor,"Audio Visual Sales Guy" gets 5 stars for service and integrity!
Summary: This Pioneer vsx50 receiver is awesome !! It has many, many adjustments and settings, so if you can't understand the technical lingo in the manual, you had better hire the "GEEK SQUAD" or someone capable of setting you up. It's definitely worth it. Saved $125.00 over Best Buy. Thanks Amazon !!
Summary: I can't imagine in this era that anyone would make a receiver that doesn't have wifi on board. In addition it will not connect to my new Samsung DVD player more than about 20 percent of the time. It has to be shut down and then be re-started to get a good audio connection. I spoke with support who blamed it on other things and acted like I was stupid with a condescending voice inflection. I tried to hook it up to my Air Port Extreme but it won't work.
Summary: After trying 2 other brand name receivers, I finally went back to Pioneer, and I'm very glad I did! To be honest, this is my first venture into the the AV surround sound Home Theater style of receivers, even though that's kind of what I used my old SX-828 for for a long time anyway. I do have to admit that it took me a few days to get the sound set up the way I wanted, and I did have to play around with it quite a bit.
Summary: Great product. Flexibility and ease of set up is wonderful. Sounds great and enough power to drive music and videos to experience them as intended. Perfect for connecting to iPad, iPhones and iPod.
