Summary: This is by far the worst receiver I have ever owned. How can a presumably good brand and at this price point produce something so bad ? I had mine serviced (a major hassle) twice while under warranty and after having the chips replaced, the problems are still there. So it must just be a bad design. Among the many problems with this receiver, the two most annoying are: 1. Periodically when you turn it on it simply jams and shows only a green screen on the TV.
Summary: Had this receiver for over a year and a half now. Love the automatic setup, the customization of inputs, and the ability to bi-amp the front speakers. It delivers great surround (speakers help too). Definitely recommend this product. Few problems though: Generation 4 or older iPods are not compatible with this device.
Summary: I've had this receiver for a few years, and realize that there is a newer model with 3D now in the market. I'm guessing that the changes on the new model are incremental. Pros * THX means something, the sound quality is excellent at all volumes. * Elite Receivers are relatively easy to install and program, this is my second one. The on screen menus are the way to go for programming.
Summary: I have owned this receiver for over 18 months. It powers my 6 speaker JBL home theater room with excellent clarity and power. I have previously owned receivers by Onkyo, Kenwood, Denon, Mitsubishi and as a kid - Realistic. This is my first Pioneer product and purchased it based on price, reviews and listening to a comparable Elite receiver on a friends HT. Pros: The VSX-21 features more than enough inputs/outputs and we love the up scaling feature!
Summary: * Came in brand new condition * Very easy setup * FANTASTIC sound quality * Remote works even when pointing away from receiver My setup: 1080p Projector, 100 inch diagonal screen, Monster THX certified wire, Polk audio speakers
Summary: Amazon knows that Pioneer will not honor the warranty for any Elite product sold online, yet they persist in allowing these listings. I'm currently involved in a nightmare scenario trying to get my Vsx 21 Elite repaired. Do not, repeat, do not purchase any Elite product from any online vendor. Shame on you Amazon, you should not allow this practice on your site.
Summary: The Pioneer VSX-21txh is a great receiver with more features than most people will ever need and if you get it at a good price all the more so. It puts out plenty of power 110watts RMS per each of its 7 channels. Also this number is most probably pretty spot on due to the fact that it is also THX certified. It works great with my set up. I have a Mitsubishi HC3800 projecting onto a 110" screen.
