Summary: Like many of the other reviews on this product... the receiver worked great for 18 months, then boom... no good. Pioneer released a firmware update that could not be performed via the internet update. I followed their instructions exactly as they prescribed... downloaded the firmware update files and copied them to a reformatted USB drive. The firmware update started fine, but after about 2 minutes it displayed "Update Error 6".
Summary: This is the only reason I need to never buy another Pioneer product again. While it mostly worked for about 18 months (always had problems with HDMI synchronization which resulted in intermittent green lines flashing on the screen), it just doesn't work anymore. Pioneer support is non-existent. "Self-support" through the internet doesn't work because nobody else can figure this out. Device is no longer connecting to network and their is nothing to be done.
Summary: This is a good over all receiver but does have room for improvement, 1st if you update the firmware via internet you will not be able to update it at all after that, unless you go through a time consuming process of resetting it to factory default, then going online via your PC or MAC and getting the firmware update onto a USB flash drive then installing the update from USB flash drive fixes some of the issues like Pandora etc, but I found that even after the newest...
Summary: This unit is a very powerful, multi featured electronic device. It was more than I could comphrehend. I wanted it to stream internet audio(Sirius XM-Southern Gospel) to remote speakers. I use it now to power to old analog speakers in my living room. I purchased a Sonos Bridge and speaker to stream Sirius to our Family room or wherever in the range of my Apple Airport WIFI. Did not have enough time to invesrt in to understand it's very powerful features.
Summary: I owned this receiver for almost a year and then the HDMI output board quit working. It was still under warranty when it happened so I thought it shouldn't be a big deal. Well I was wrong. I live in the front range of Colorado and the closest service center is a 1.5 hour round trip and is a small hole in the wall shop in a small town, there is no one located in Denver at all.
Summary: If your looking for a solid receiver for a fair value this is the one. The multi-zone feature really allows you to enjoy your music in 2 different zones. The other feature I really like is the ability for the receiver to be controlled by an iPhone.
Summary: Awesome machine...but a little difficult to set-up for a confessed electronics lackey. Even my hubby who's an electronics whiz was a little overwhelmed by this unit and had to do lots of research to get everything set up.
Summary: I have the VSX-1122K. After reading a lot of bad reviews of irritated customers having problems with this unit i was very hesitant to buy it. But I did and i immediately had two problems. One of which was the Pandora radio feature that is fixed with the update via USB flash. The other was that it did not like my DirecTV box to be plugged in via HDMI at all. It would work for a few minutes but then would start having problems and just lose signal.
