Summary: Hello I purchased a vsx 1121k in dec of 2012. I admit it was the best avr I had ever purchased. At about the second year, the hdmi out started going crazy. I regret after discussing with many repair people that the hdmi board in all pioneer avrs are flaky and widely known for hdmi failures. This wouldn't be that bad if the replacement board is $400 plus just for the board. Add labor and you might as well purchase a brand with quality parts inside.
Summary: We loved our Pioneer VSX-921-K, so when it came time to get a receiver with HDMI capabilities, we got the VSX-1121-K. As other reviewers have stated, it's a great device... when it works. I'll let you read other reviews to find out the positive side of this unit, but I'm here to vent... This unit died at 19 months of age. If you noticed, that's 7 months after the measly 1-year warranty expires.
No Sound and No Picture Issues Resolved! For Now....
2 August 2013
Summary: Suddenly, no sound and no video output next morning. It just stop working. This was the same problem that many reviewers mentioned in their reviews. I reset the receiver by unplugging all HDMi cables and the power cord. A few hours later, I connected all the cables and turned power on and selected tuner for radio. The sound came back. And the video(with sound) also came back when I selected HDMI cable TV. Not sure what has triggered this shutdown.
Summary: When I first bought this receiver I was thrilled about all of it's capabilities and features. The auto programing, number of HDMI inputs/outputs, and airplay are pretty awesome. The one thing that I did not read though during my research was the fact that the HDMI board is extremely unstable and crashes quite often. It all started roughly one year after I purchased it from Amazon.
Summary: No picture, No sound. After 3 months of light use it completely failed. Great receiver, while it lasted. Will be switching to the Yamaha receiver at this point. After reading reviews by others, I don't have much faith in the longevity of this unit.
Summary: I have now owned the Pioneer VSX-1121-k for almost a year. I upgraded from another Pioneer Receiver about 4 years old. The VSX-1016-k I had still worked great, but the surround processing and lack of HDMI options made it a little dated. I was very pleased at how easy the installation of the 1121 was. I had everything up and ready in under 1 hour including all speaker connections.
Summary: I replaced ..my vsx-21 txh ..with the 1121-k and i was not disappointed at all... when it came to sound/ Q ..the both receivers ..were neck and neck ...but on the video side of things the 1121-k edged ahead .. what made the difference is the QDEO video chip set...it did a very good job of upscaling all video signals...to 1080p/24/60 and with my kuro tv it's even better as well , I paired IT with an elite BDP-23FD...AND A BDP-51FD all i can say is wow...
Summary: While this may not considered a review, this is my experience with this unit. First let me say that when this unit works, it is great. The sound and iPad interface are my favorite features. That being said, this is my experience with this unit. I purchased a VSX-1121-K receiver from Amazon on 2-21-12. I installed the receiver and all was working great until 6-10-12. On 6-10-12, I shut the receiver off before leaving the house.
Summary: this is a very good receiver ..it have all.. that you'll need and some...when it comes to sound/Q ..its very good top marks ...and the video/Q.. is very good to with the Qdeo chip..wow and if you pair this unit up with a pioneer bluray player you will enjoy all the wonders on H.D PICTURE AND SOUND....
Summary: Purchased this new on Amazon. Features were fine... when it lasted. The video card burned out after 6 months. It has now been at the repair shop for warranty repairs for 1 month, with no ETA for the repairs. Pioneer support has been unhelpful. I'm throwing in the towel and buying another brand. Avoid Pioneer... TERRIBLE customer service in my experience.
