The Pioneer VSX-1020-K is a 7.1 channel A/V receiver that provides users with home theater performance and connectivity options for an array of high-definition home theater components. The receiver supports digital 1080p upscaling, supports multi-zone function which allows users tochoose either a 7.1-channel configuration, or create a second zone with 5.1 + 2 channels and has front USB input and compatibility with Bluetooth sources (using the optional AS-BT100 adapter, sold separately). It is a "Works with iPhone"-certified device that allows users to incorporate their favorite Apple products into the home theater. This allows users to enjoy music, movies, downloaded TV shows from iTunes, photos, and more. It comes with an included USB/composite video cable for connecting the iPhone to share favorite media. This also charges the iPhone automatically. The iPhone’s wireless and network features are also functional with the AV receiver and music and movies mutes when there is an incoming call. A push of a button on the VSX-1020-K’s front panel switches control to the included preset remote and an intuitive text GUI. Other features on the Pioneer VSX-1020-K include the Advanced Sound Retriever technology, which restores lost data in compressed music files; optional Pioneer AS-BT100 Bluetooth adapter (sold separately) for wireless connectivity to an iPhone, Blackberry®, or Android® smartphone as well as other Bluetooth-enabled sources like laptops; four HDMI inputs to connect the unit to high-definition sources; compatibility with Pioneer’s iControlAV (downloaded separately via Apple’s App Store) that gives users control over their home theater sound. The software provides users with controls for master and per-zone volume, room calibration, and more. When paired with an iPhone and iPod Touch, the unit’s accelerometer controls are used to control balance and emphasis, allowing users to tilt and maneuver the Apple portable device until the sound is right; 1080p Upscaling via Anchor Bay® and PureCinema video processing. PureCinema’s processing of 3D noise reduction and Y/C color separation optimizes picture quality from an array of sources, including analog; Dolby Pro Logic IIz, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Audio for optimized sounds; Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration system (MCACC) for near studio-quality, multi-channel audio; and Auto Level Control which equalizes volume level differences between tracks playing from an iPhone or iPod or during television programming so the volume can be enjoyed at a consistent level. The VSX-1020-K also provides users with the platform to access portable devices, internet radio and satellite radio, YouTube®, and more.See less

I have an eight year-old SONY TV still has some life in it. I am pretty sure that it doesn't have HDMI hookups in the back and I will have to deal with a mess of old cables. Will I get a significant improvement in video if I am using the cables? Regarding that, is there a fix so I could use HDMI? Thanks in advance . . .chats72

I have a Pioneer vsx-1020 amp that I run 7.1 for my home theater setup. I would like to rig a stereo output feed from this amp to input into my whole house sound amp. I can't seem to find a way to do this without settup up another zone on the 1020 which would require that it be run as 5.1... Any ideas on this? Thanks
