Summary: Bought my Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K in November 2009. As other reviewers have noted, it's packed with features not always found for the original $500 price tag. Audio and video performance have been excellent (CD, DVD, Bluray, iPod). Yes, setup was complicated and the manual should be more user-friendly.
Good Sound but problems with remote control and poor customer service

Summary: Bought this receiver about 1 1/2 years ago, use it regularly for music CDs and home theater. I researched and bought this unit with modest needs in mind. It has several features that I'll probably never use (like satellite zones and Sirius), but experience tells me to it's usually better to have too many features than too few (within reason).
Summary: I researched and bought this receiver with modest needs in mind. It has several features that I'll probably never use (like satellite zones and Sirius), but experience tells me to it's usually better to have too many features than too few (within reason). Flexibility is important to me. I especially liked the generous array of input/output options, the ability to upconvert analog video, and the number of surround processing decoders.
Summary: Bought at $350, I am a review-aholic and it seemed a pretty good deal based on the plethora of raves out there. There are plenty of long technical reviews here, so you don't need another. What I can say is that the sound is pretty good. 4 star worthy. Nowhere close to my Marantz 8002 (which if you can afford 700 instead of 350 do not hesitate....), but it's good for $350.
It has been a total "DISASTER" and a "HUGE HEADACHE"

Summary: I believed I was making a good deal in purchasing this Pioneer VSX-1019AH 7.1 Receiver thru E-Bay and ibuyplasma (seller)..Turns out that the receiver worked about two (2) to three (3) minutes and "QUIT"!!! No Power at all!!! ibuyplasma has been extremely devious in answering with a true, honest and/or a straight solution to a product that they sold and I promptly paid. I'm not at all disputing payment.
Summary: Well laid out design. Connections are well spaced and labeled (no phono connection so you will need a PRE AMP to connect a turntable!). The iPod connection is included which is VERY cool! I chose to use a "banana plug" to connect my speakers...well worth the effort and a very clean connection!! Remote buttons are a little small but it controls every aspect of the receiver. The remote is also "programmable" to operate a large variety of other system components..
Summary: The Pioneer VSX-1019AH receiver is full of features and came highly recommended on CNET. I've had it for about two weeks now and finally have it working to my desire. I am still learning this unit and it takes some time to set it up and get used to. It is not a straight forward intuiative piece of equipment. I highly recommend that you use a PC or TV monitor to use the GUI program that is one of the receiver's features for setting the system up.
