Summary: Bought my Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K in November 2009. As other reviewers have noted, it's packed with features not always found for the original $500 price tag. Audio and video performance have been excellent (CD, DVD, Bluray, iPod). Yes, setup was complicated and the manual should be more user-friendly.
Good Sound but problems with remote control and poor customer service

Summary: Bought this receiver about 1 1/2 years ago, use it regularly for music CDs and home theater. I researched and bought this unit with modest needs in mind. It has several features that I'll probably never use (like satellite zones and Sirius), but experience tells me to it's usually better to have too many features than too few (within reason).
Summary: "I replaced an 8+ year old JVC RX-884 unit (when they still made receivers) to upgrade to HDMI, etc. for my new LG LCD. All functions on the JVC could be set/viewed via OSD: tuner, surround settings, etc. The pioneer has very attractive setup and IPOD playback OSD's but they didn't follow through in other areas such as tuner setup/ station selections or a master screen to view surround sound settings during playback.
Summary: Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K 120 Watts A/V Receiver with HDMI Repeater 4 In/1 Out, Faroudja I080p Video Scaler and iPod Zone 2 with OSD (Black) I have to say this is a great receiver for the price. I'm no audio expert but so far this unit is performing great. I recently got the HD setup with the Samsung 52-650, Samsung Blu-Ray and Samsung DVR/VCR along with the Comcast cable box.
Summary: After researching reviews for a couple of weeks I purchased the Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K. My quick impressions: Plus: 1. Easy set up. Even the MCACC speaker calibration was simple due to a user friendly graphic menu on the TV screen. 2. Amazing sound. Amazing. 3. Included iPod/iPhone cable. Finally, a company that understands that most people carry their music on a single device. Minus: 1. Manual.
Summary: I researched and bought this receiver with modest needs in mind. It has several features that I'll probably never use (like satellite zones and Sirius), but experience tells me to it's usually better to have too many features than too few (within reason). Flexibility is important to me. I especially liked the generous array of input/output options, the ability to upconvert analog video, and the number of surround processing decoders.
It has been a total "DISASTER" and a "HUGE HEADACHE"

Summary: I believed I was making a good deal in purchasing this Pioneer VSX-1019AH 7.1 Receiver thru E-Bay and ibuyplasma (seller)..Turns out that the receiver worked about two (2) to three (3) minutes and "QUIT"!!! No Power at all!!! ibuyplasma has been extremely devious in answering with a true, honest and/or a straight solution to a product that they sold and I promptly paid. I'm not at all disputing payment.
Summary: Well laid out design. Connections are well spaced and labeled (no phono connection so you will need a PRE AMP to connect a turntable!). The iPod connection is included which is VERY cool! I chose to use a "banana plug" to connect my speakers...well worth the effort and a very clean connection!! Remote buttons are a little small but it controls every aspect of the receiver. The remote is also "programmable" to operate a large variety of other system components..
