HDMI Inputs fail

William G., Newegg
29 September 2011
  • Pros: Good system, when it works
  • Cons: After 2 years, one of the HDMI inputs ceased to work (passed audio, but not video signal) . Six months later, a second HDMI input failed (passed nothing), leaving me only one working HDMI input. I'm not impressed. Will buy another brand to replace it.

Good Unit

James J., Newegg
4 April 2009
  • Pros: I like the unit has many options. I think it is very good for the price also. It is tied in with a 52 inch LCD tv and dvd player and alot of other toys and seems to respond well to whatever I throw at it. Of course surround sound is involved and I like the auto set-up for that feature
  • Cons: Have not found one yet. A bit heavy for todays times I think.

Looking for feedback

Valentin D., Newegg
29 March 2009
  • Summary: I purchased this unit to replace an older, and lower level, Sony, which lost its center channel for some reason. I never had this problem with that unit, so I know it's not my speakers, and the only thing that has changed is the introduction of this Pioneer.
  • Pros: The unit is solid on inputs, outputs, and configuration options. Read the other gushing reviews, and you'll learn of all the pros. I'm posting this for the con, and hoping someone will see it and confirm or deny it.
  • Cons: I've had the unit for a little more than a month. I've recently noticed a major shortcoming with it. I'm not sure if this is a defect on my unit only, or a common problem with this model. I'm hoping others will sound off, or best yet - the manufacturer will have the courage to address this issue....

Great Receiver

Nathaniel C., Newegg
22 February 2009
  • Summary: Overall this receiver is amazing. I use it for a 2.1 audio setup in my college dorm room with Polk speakers. Watching movies, playing games, and listening to music has been taken to a whole new level with this pioneer receiver. I would recommend this to anyone looking to buy an entry lever receiver.
  • Pros: This is a 7.1 receiver with HD video scaling. This is one of the least expensive receivers that can output all video inputs on one HDMI cable with upconverting. The assignable audio and video inputs are awesome because you can practically plug in anything anywhere, then just rename the input. Als...
  • Cons: The on screen display is pretty old looking. I wish it was easier to quickly turn the bass up or down since i listen to a lot of music and i like different bass levels for different genres. When plugging a flash drive into the usb input you can only skip songs-you can't jump folders The remote is...

Pioneer Rocks!

Roger M., Newegg
17 February 2009
  • Summary: I love Pioneer equipment, it's all I buy for my electronics. High quality in every respect. HD audio is amazing. I thought my sub thumped before on my previous Pioneer receiver...now there are walls shaking in my house that never did before!
  • Pros: looks great, sounds amazing, easy to use!
  • Cons: No input button on the remote for the "video" input...no biggie.

To be used for decades.

Jacek K., Newegg
17 February 2009
  • Summary: You can argue that this one or that one might have better specs. It is true, but also true is that on this level of equipment difference you can notice only in the audio lab. Don’t argue or blame yourself that Denon, Marantz or Yamaha will sound noticeably better inside average home.
  • Pros: Great sound. Very easy to setup and very easy to use. Works perfect with Pioneer BD player.
  • Cons: Remote control could be better.

Great video scaling

David J., Newegg
13 February 2009
  • Summary: Turn off DDC/CI on your monitor if you have problems with video. I do not have a supply of fiber optic cable for audio yet. My HP w2207 will not use the 1080p output but will use the 1080i, disappointed.
  • Pros: Several modes for surround sound 3 HDMI inputs front connectors, usb Taking a while to figure out...
  • Cons: The video inputs are not seperate from each other. A user can only use composite or component. In other words, 4 analog inputs and 3 hdmi inputs. Bad: Satellite receiver 1, satellite receiver 2, dvd, vcr, laserdisc, computer. Thought I was getting 7 different analog inputs. Plus the front. Took a...

I love Pioneer

Anonymous, Newegg
23 January 2009
  • Summary: I know people complain about the lack of S-Video but these days you are either going to have RCA, Component, or HDMI so its not really a big deal, at least not to me.
  • Pros: It has all I could ask for and more. It's great to have a 7.1 system and it was super easy to setup. The automatic tuning with the microphone they supplied is fantastic. Really sets you up for the best sound you can get. It has plenty of inputs on it. I love that its ready for the future when we ...
  • Cons: I wish it had 1 more HDMI input but thats hard to find 4 inputs for those. I can make due without as I don't really see getting any more devices that will require HDMI. 3 Covers my PS3, Satellite box, and PC. I could probably drop the PC for an XBOX360 if I ever get one.

For the $$$....can't be beat!

Renon G., Newegg
8 January 2009
  • Summary: Pioneer, you knocked it out of the ballpark with this one. Great job! And to Newegg, thanks for the constant low prices and great service!
  • Pros: 3 HDMI ins, 1 out, mulit component ins, rca ins, fiber optic audio, iPod USB connection, 130W to 7 channels, the list goes on and on and on. Did I mention the price? Under $500...come on. WOW! I've only TWO very minor complaints about it, but they don't hold a candle to everything amazing about t...
  • Cons: Ok, here they are. The iPod USB port DOES NOT play video signals. Music files only. Not really a big deal. I still have my docking station running to the back of the unit via component cables. The other beef is about the screen format you see on the TV when using the programming features. It's a ...
