Summary: This receiver serves as master control for our home theater. All inputs flow through it and with its large set of features it handles them all with ease. It is powerful and runs all 5 our speakers and subwoofer with no problem. I use Amazon for most of my purchases and update my reviews if anything changes with the products. I do this so other Amazon users can get a real feel for the life of the product.
Summary: I'm replacing a 21 year old Pioneer VSX-D1S with this unit. It arrived yesterday, and I've spent the evening running speaker cable and reattaching components and so forth. I haven't done any of the calibrations or other setup, but right out of the box, this thing sounds awesome! I'm playing the new Styx: Grand Illusion / Pieces of Eight - Live [Blu-ray ] and it really sounds/looks great so far. I'll post a more detailed review later...
Summary: I couldn't have made a better selection for the budget of $1200. Firstly, delivery was right on and almost as good as express. Set-up is a breeze and there is so much flexibility to tailor the sound for your space. I have a 22feet x16feet room with vaulted ceiling - full 7.1 speaker setup. My room sound is AWESOME. Next stop!! new speaker system.
Summary: have had this unit for about a month it works great easy to understand instructions easy to use remote lots of good clean power it can really rock your house, i am no expert auido guy i did listin to other brand recievers in this price range and thought them all good, the easy to understand instructions and remote sold me on this one, the auido speaker set up was easy and works great, i am very happy with my choice i am sure there are better multi componet systems out...
Summary: Pro's: lots of features, good sound quality, and 140 wpc rating isn't just for two channels driven, per Pioneer website, its 140 wpc with ALL channels driven. This is a bigger distinction than it might sound for home theater users. Con's: set-up isn't the easiest. Not terrible, but not necessarily intuitive either. Definitely required opening the manual. Also, the SC-27 isn't rated by Pioneer as stable with 4 ohm speakers, such as the Polk Lsi series.
Summary: I replaced my old Marantz receiver with the SC-27. I love the sound quality - very crisp and clear, albeit slightly less warm than my old Marantz. MCACC works as advertised, and I love the Expanded Stereo processing that brings in the surrounds to create a beautiful sound stage that makes you feel like you're sitting in with the band.

Summary: I was looking for some time for a receiver that could replace my 12 year old Adcom (200W) amplifiers and Sony ES preamp processor. After reading many reviews on this Pioneer Elite SC-27 and much careful consideration I decided to make the move, BTW the amps and processor still worked great, I was looking to get the newest processing and HDMI hook up for my gear. I am very happy to say that 3 months later I have not been disappointed once, but amazed many times over.
Summary: I have had the Pioneer Elite SC-27 receiver for about 2 months now, and I have gotten to know it pretty well by now. Let me start by saying that I am very happy with this unit, I have learned a lot about it and I'll try to give you as much detail as possible. Before I bought this unit, I was looking for something that had a lot of power, clean sound, multi-room capability, internet radio, relatively easy to use once it was setup, and something that felt solid and not...
Summary: If you Google Pioneer Elite SC-27 you can find a couple of very thorough and compelling reviews for this unit. As someone who simply enjoys his music and his home theatre I recently purchased this because it seemed to have some very impressive state of the art features(read the professional reviews). I was trying to find a piece that would give me the best sound quality I could get- for less than $2000.
Summary: The price was a bargain. The good: Multi-channel calibration was a plus. Very powerful discrete, no hiss, hum, nor interchannel interference at zero. Nice appearance. It does not heat up as much as others. Pioneer is a very reliable brand. Multi hdmi is what I have been waiting for. You can change the label name on everything. It does calibrate the receiver with the speakers. Excellent upscaling.
