Summary: Being an audiophile, I won't lie in saying that I wasn't sure what to expect from Pioneer's elite series. Having used mainly Sony products for many years, when my last receiver kicked the bucket, I decided I wanted to go for something that could not only support HDMI, but also one that offered more control over speaker capabilities. After setting it up, I'm very happy to say that I am thoroughly impressed with this receiver.
Summary: I had no idea it could be this good!!! I have the full 7.2 setup...all the speaker ports are used up and this thing still pushes out crazy clean clear power to all of my speakers. I cannot believe how good it sounds...If I had $1100 to spend on a receiver..I would probably still buy this one. Back to back loud movies and its still only like 90 degrees to the touch in my well vented entertainment center. It decodes everything and has many setup features.
Summary: This system looks good and has excellent sound quality. I have been using the pioneer elite sc61 for several months and really like it. However, for the past month or so whenever I power on the unit I hear a very disturbing high pitch sound that doesn't go away. Sometimes during the power-up stage the unit goes into a standby mode and I have to turn the power off the unit and restart, often without any success.
Summary: The Receiver is very nice, typical Pioneer quality. The receiver made the AT&T Uverse feed and picture better than the previous receiver. I am pleased. The one thing I am not pleased with is the app that I can use on an ipad or android device.
Summary: .... for pete's sake, they could have built in wifi and bluetooth!! My tv and blue ray player both came with built in wifi, and common bluetooth dongles are way cheaper than the pioneer one!! The MACC automated speaker setup is great!! And the whole unit is much lighter and smaller (and more powerful) than the Yamaha unit it replaced.
Sounds great. Has many functions. OSD and GUI is cumbersome. Remote control is difficult to see. User manual is difficult

Summary: This unit sounds great. The video upscaling is spectacular. However, the on screen display is difficult in routine adjustments such as bass, treble, volume and equalizer tuning because different listening modes disable those adjustments. The display on the receiver is very difficult to see if you are in your arm chair or sofa and the listening modes do not appear on the television screen.
Summary: NETGEAR Powerline AV 200 Mbps Nano Adapter Kit (XAVB2101) After purchasing this receiver, I read reviews on how to set up the iControl app for iPhone.Do not use Pioneer's adapter as it drops signal.I also tried Netgear's wireless adapter, looks like a triangle, did not work either. Then I tried the Powerline adapter, bingo!Problems solved! So I felt compelled to write this review to help others that looking for the WiFi solution.
Summary: This item is very good quality but too complicated for the normal person. It is certainly is NOT intuitive. You have to have a manual (NOT PROVIDED in print form) close by for anything little thing you have to do. And even then it's complicated to do. On the other hand they have great people to help you if you call them. You just have to wait in line for someone to answer in the order it was received sometimes up to 30 minutes.
