Decent performance, but ultimately fails on quality

Summary: When it worked, the performance was quite acceptable. I really liked using the sound programming, very easy to setup. However same as so many other users, I also had problems with too much heat and an early death of all 5 HDMI inputs (about 1 year after purchase).
Summary: This thing draws ~120W of power just sitting there when it's turned on. For a while I was just leaving it on in order to avoid power cycling the unit over and over. At my electric rates that equates to about $17/mo. Upon doing that calculation I bought the HDMI switch box.
Pros: [Newegg lists this as being out of stock, and I'm guessing it's discontinued. So please pardon me if I keep this review brief; I'm just dropping it here in case this item goes on sale again]. Sounds great. As an audio receiver it's a great product. That's the only thing saving it from a one-egg r...
Cons: I bought this behemoth over other receivers in roughly the same price range because of its HDMI capabilities. After 3 years of everything working great, I suddenly had to turn the TV on for about 10 seconds before turning on the Onkyo or I'd get no video ("no signal" reported by the TV). Power cy...
Great at first, but then the HDMI Issue's Onkyo Receivers seem to have bit me in the end!!!

Summary: It's a nice looking unit. All the features at the time I wanted for a decent price. I got mine Dec 2008. It was problem free for the first few years, but after that, I started getting strange picture issues with it. Minor at first. In the last year it's really been growing.
Summary: I had this and loved it for almost exactly a year. Then my HDMI completely failed. I went back to my old Yamaha (without HDMI) and an HDMI Switch. I looked around for a Yamaha with HDMI switching. I found one on sale and have been using it for over a year with no problems.
Summary: I've enjoyed this unit when it works. After a couple of years of service the unit completely shut down. At power on, the unit produce an intermittent popping sound which prompted me to reduce the volume at start up to avoid damage to the speaker system.
Summary: Like many others my TX SR 806 lasted about 3 years and now to use it you have to turn it on and let it warm up for 15- 20 minutes. I'm very disappointed in Onkyo as they have had a stellar reputation for many years but it appears that not unlike so many other things they just don't make em like they...
Summary: You cannot go wrong with this receiver is correct..........for about 3 years, that's about as long as it will last before it starts having trouble "handshaking" to different sources through hdmi.
Summary: This receiver is my 4th Onkyo and this is the first time I had problems with the input switching, when I first turn it on it takes about 5 minutes before anything show on the screen, when I switch to Xbox 360,PS3 it takes even longer and a couple of times 30 to 40 minutes before a signacan be seen,...
