Summary: I had been looking at receivers for a while, comparing the features, etc. and was drawn to the Onkyo SR608 for it rich feature set and value for the money. I was a little hesitant on buying this brand because of the HDMI issue, but I figured I'd just take the plunge and hope that I wouldn't have the problem.
Wanted to Love it, But it failed TWICE from TWO different sources!

Summary: First let me say, I've had Onkyo products before, and I've always felt their products have been reliable, so when I became ready for a new Mid-range receiver around the $400-$500 price range, I started my research with ONKYO. I checked out offereings from Pioneer, Yamaha, Denon, Samsung and wound up after all the info I gathered looking at ONYKO TX-SR608 VS Denon AVR-1611.
Summary: This is a good receiver, but not for 3d. With Panasonic plasma Directv 3d works great when directly connected to TV but not when connected through the Onkyo receiver (it shows split screen). Another reviewer here reported the same behavior with Sony 3D TV. PS3 3D works well through the receiver. Don't buy this receiver if you have 3d TV and DirecTV . Onkyo tech support was not that great of experience either, they promised to call back but never did.
