Summary: Bought this off of Amazon warehouse as a surprise and set it up myself (hubby was on active duty overseas). During the first week or so, had problems with the unit in that it seemed to intermittently fail to pass the video signal through from my DVD player to the TV.
Summary: And here's the but i got a defective receiver and now I have to pay 43 dollars to return it back to Newegg I don't think it is a sale if I end up paying more in the long run, I feel like Newegg should pay for the return also.
Pros: Looks good and has a lot of features BUT....
Cons: getting a defective one in the mail is a con ?
Summary: I have never had a worse experience than owning this receiver. Purchased and got wrong remote for the model and unit had problems from day one. Unit ran extremely hot and made clicking sound (sounded like an electrical relay) constantly (every 3-5 minutes).
Pros: 7.1, optical inputs
Cons: Reliability, service and support (complete lack thereof), remote, whole experience with Onkyo.
Summary: This just goes to show, don't believe all those reviews you read in the mags, go talk to a real person. Even thou this company May have a good product they do not have a good service operation.
Pros: Looks like it's very well made, price from New Egg was unbelieveable.
Cons: The on screen display failed after about a week, thought it might have been me, played with it for another week thinking I may have cuased the problem, not the case. The manual is a mess, it has you jumping all over the place. Send a E-Mail to Support, three days later got a reply reset the recei...
Pros: Look Nice. Box came from UPS without external damages. The box tape seemed to be from the manufacturer, but the accessory tray is empty, and the remote controller is also missing. Just a bare receiver.
Cons: Missing Accessory bag and remote control and batteries.
Summary: After four months the HDMI input board on my TX-SR608 has died. I had the exact same failure with my previous Onkyo TX-SR606 which was out of the 2 year warranty period. The TX-SR608 was a replacement for the 606 which had a known issue with HDMI board failure.
Summary: Purchased my Onkyo August 1 2010. Within 3 months the unit failed as no audio or video would pass through the unit. Shipped it in for service as Onkyo specified (double boxed and insured), which cost me $75! Returned about 3 weeks later. The unit has failed a second time in less than a year.
Summary: I bought this product in July 2010 by September 2010 the HDMI output had completely went out. Onkyo honored their warranty but I had to drive 1 hour north in order to ensure it was delivered properly, not to mention they do not cover shipping.
