Summary: Beware. This is one of 100's of articles on HI DEF: I started having this same problem with my 606 last September. I brought it to my local certified Onkyo repair facility at the beginning of October and got it back a month later. Everything was working well until a few weeks ago. I'm now about to bring it in for repair for the second time, as the handshaking problem gets worse every day.
Summary: I've had this receiver for a year and it has worked flawlessly up until now. All of a sudden my video input for all devices with composite video (VCR, game console) stopped working. I still have audio and there are no issues with HDMI video (yet). If you google this issue it seems to be happening to others also. Some are even having issues with the HDMI video.I'm an Onkyo person and it's still under warranty, but I'm not happy with the failure after one year.
Summary: We bought this model in Dec. 2009. Three months ago, we experience an video issue that pictures black out intermittently no matter from DVD, BD, or satterlite player. The audio also sometimes is broken up. We reset the receiver or unplugged power as Onkyo Forum suggested, but only works a while, then the problem came back. Now we have to connect all video through TV and use this receiver for audio only.
Summary: I bought my Onkyo TX-SR607 in Nov of 2009 but due to me relocating several times I left it sealed in the box until 3 weeks ago. Finally got it out set it up and all was well for 3 weeks until now. It will only play for 10-15 mins before it turns itself off. I tried the master reset process per the manual but still it works only for 10-15 mins and back off it goes. On top of that, Onkyo says the nearest service center from Tucson is Denver!
Summary: Purchased 607 from Amazon in November and now having trouble with HDMI ports as others are. Totally unable to get new Sony Blue-ray to do more than sound and wavy lines on screen no matter what port is used. Guess this will be a $50 (for shipping to service center) lesson in poor product performance. As Admiral Ackbar said,"It's a trap!
Summary: Well to start I got this item for Xmas 2009 - purchased all the needed accessories such as new HDMI cables, speaker wire etc. To produce a nice quality entertainment atmosphere. After spending a good couple of hours running the wire and getting it up and running, the hardest part were the idiotic surround sound speaker connections (red/black ) on back of unit.
Summary: Out of box only one (#3) of five HDMI inputs work. It is a defective product. Unfortunately because i did not install immediately due to anticipated move and a new TV and couple of new speakers. Onkyo has the worst custoemr service I've experienced, they refused to pay service shipping. the worst product ever bought! No more onkyo for me.
Summary: We didn't have time to open the new Onkyo TX-SR670 receiver until after the return period---big mistake. From the beginning it has had major problems keeping a signal. To watch a DVD we have to keep the controller in hand to keep moving off the signal it has lost and then switch back in order to regain the signal (and I suppose it only seems like it always happens at the most crucial times in the story because it happens so often--about every 7 minutes).
ONKYO has persistent OVERHEATING PROBLEMS / knows of issue & refuses to replace. BUYER BEWARE!

Summary: We live in the Sonoran Desert in Phoenix Arizona with a freestanding ONKYO 607 near my piano/not in a rack or in any way obstructed. Unit is kept within temperature ranges outlined by ONKYO, but even after factory repair my unit repeatedly fails. ONKYO will indeed repair your unit, but it'll be $45 in shipping (you pay) and the unit will be gone for about a month. ONKYO's suggestion? "Most of our customers are buying fans".
Summary: We bought this receiver about 2 years ago. Now it is having trouble reading the hdmi signal from the playstation 3. We thought it was an issue with the playstation first, and returned it to sony twice for repair and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. We finally figured out that it was the receiver. We have to unplug the hdmi cable in the back over and over again until it works. Otherwise it just says "No Signal".
