Buy it NOW ! I'm more than happy with this unit ONKYO one of the Best
19 June 2013
Summary: Great sound for this the price tons of HDMI'S and other put in . No ubs port for ipod cost $35 to add their dock on ebay. But still a very good buy. All in all I love it for a smaller room . 12 by 14 more power than I needed .
Summary: Bought this used locally from craigslist for $100 in "as new" condition, all accessories, manuals and box - really like brand new. At $1.11 per watt, it was a GREAT bargain. It worked mostly fine for the first month, but lately the video signal cuts out to my projector through the HDMI connection - this may not be the receiver, but rather the cable or line voltage drops which I am reading HDMI is sensitive to (something about losing the handshake between).
Pros: Features to $$$ benefits, 2 subwoofer pre-outs (7.2)
Summary: This is my first Onkyo amp, and my first HDMI equipt amp also. Works great for me. Almost every Input is filled with a HDMI device (this amp made me a true believer in the greatness of HDMI). Antec Veris cooler has been on it from day one ... turns pretty hot into "luke-warm". We run it about 6 hours a day, everyday (TV speakers are never used). Nowdays, it's running a full set of full-size Polk Audio Series II speakers.
Pros: HDMI 1.3a, good power, Audyssey 2EQ, 630 watts
Summary: The operations and functionality of this unit are awesome for its price range. The sound is incredible and it makes watching movies and shows in surround sound an entire new experience compared to the old 5.1 surround. My only complaints are cosmetic. My unit is in an entertainment center on a shelf about knee high and reading the labels on the button requires kneeling to the floor to read them.
Summary: It worked fine for 2 years. I bought it in Sep 09. In Jan 12, receiver stopped working& and now has no visual. I have to plug in directly from cable box to tv. it runs very hot so it may be something to do with it. Oh well, I guss I have to replace it..but won't buy Onkyo again.
Summary: I really like everything about this receiver except that I have had numerous HDMI issues with it. Every 3-4 months (I've had it for about 2 years now) I get HDMI error codes show up. I've had pretty good success with reseting the Onkyo to factory defaults (page 100 of the owner's manual) but not always. Sometimes it just clears on it's on during troubleshooting.
Summary: Purchased this late 2009 after extensive research on Amazon and other sites. For the most part I have been happy up until today with the following exceptions. As you probably read in other reviews this unit heats up like an oven. I converted my media cabinet for the unit with air vents as I was worried about it overheating. Also on occasion the while watching a show the unit will just cut out for a half second or so. I can literally see it shut off and turn back on.
Summary: We bought this model in Dec. 2009. Three months ago, we experience an video issue that pictures black out intermittently no matter from DVD, BD, or satterlite player. The audio also sometimes is broken up. We reset the receiver or unplugged power as Onkyo Forum suggested, but only works a while, then the problem came back. Now we have to connect all video through TV and use this receiver for audio only.
Summary: This is a great receiver from a great buyer. I took a chance purchasing a refurbed product, but it has paid off thus far. The switching and upscaling capabilities of this receiver are wonderful.
Summary: This is a great receiver. It is full 1080p capable. I misread the upconversion section of the manual, it can upconvert non-HD signals to 720p, but I talked to Onkyo and they clarified that it is 1080p capable. I purchased a set of outdoor speakers that I am going to hook up on my porch for the second zone. I also plan on purchasing a second subwoofer since this is capable of running two. The power output is great for this price range.
