The Sony does boast better analog video processing with the Faroudja Cortez chipset, but this doesn't justify the $700 difference in price. I own an Onkyo Pro PR-SC885 pre/pro paired with an Anthem PVA-7 multichannel power amplifier, and, as you would expect for $3600, that combination... Read more

I bought a close out TX-SR605 but was unhappy about the lack of Upscalingh. The 605 covered all the basics, but did not fill the entire tv screen when converting a component viedo input signal to HDMI output. I was able to return the unit and pick up the 606. Onkyo did a nice job with the updated unit. The have a better video signal processing unit. All video will upscale to 1080P and the sound is fantastic. Even when playing composit viedo, the 606 will fill the entire... Read more

compared to other recievers with the same feature set that cost so much more, im pretty happy with the results so far. all i needed was a device to power a 5.1 system with a dvd player, game console and over the air tv. so far things are working well. there was an issue with bad sound from my sub using the dvd player, but im still trying to find out which piece caused the issue. I tried calling Onkyo but no response from the phone numbers listed. No reply to my emails either. I luckily had an authorized dealer nearby and I dropped it off... Read more
