Summary: Great product that has provided quality sound for over 4 years. As other reviews have stated, the product does get warm, but I have it in a fairly open area so it has never been a problem. Great price with all the needed features at the time of purchase. Wish it did have a couple more hdmi in ports.
Summary: I am so very pleased with the TX-NR609. It replaced an Onkyo TX-SR705, so hook up and set up was pretty easy. There wasn't anything wrong with the 705 other than being out dated to meet my needs. I have a new Samsung UN55D8000 55-Inch 1080p 240Hz 3D LED HDTV (Silver) , and the 705 was not 3D compatable, as well as not being ARC compatable. So off to Ebay it goes. Out of the box, the sound quality was amazing. My wife even noticed it. That says a lot.
Summary: I purchased the Onkyo TX SR605 7.1 channel receiver to replace the Onkyo TX SR504 that i still have to sell if someone want's for a starter receiver, in excellent shape. The Onkyo 605 is a great receiver that i love with HDMI switching for my Visio 42" TV, Blue ray DVD player, cable box and high-end speakers X 7 plus powered sub. Fantastic sound unsurpassed by others. Highly recommend it to any one who ,when hooked up right is the BEST!!
Summary: I bought this receiver last year, works great, still not sure what half of the features of it do! Hooks up all my different components, just hit the button on the remote and it switches inputs and goes to the device no problem. It has a multizone feature so i can play xbox on zone 1 and have the radio going on zone 2 outside.. its great for parties and such. The setup menus are very simple to navigate through.
Summary: i've had one in the liv rm for over a year and i love it. Before i could only use the same less-than-great video off the directv box because i had to match it coming out of the receiver, so i was hindered. With this baby (and have since upgraded to HD DirecTv in that rm) it doesn't matter, plug whatever into the receiver, hdmi and optical out to tv & speakers. Fabulous sound - still love the sound of helicopters and such in the surround.
Summary: I purchased the 605 because I was on a budget and could not afford a better sounding HT receiver. That said, this is a great product at $600. With some looking, you may be able to pick it up for far lower. Some of the earlier 605 models had HDMI pass through/switching issues, but my model works great sending a 1080p signal from my PS3. I am a picky audiophile, so I do not recommend music on this. For movies, this thing blows it up.
Summary: This is a great receiver no problems and the power is just rediculously strong. I have no complaints and would suggest this to anyone. The 7.1 is the best and Onkyo has out done themselves with this one.
Summary: I am glad I bought this model. I like the fact that I can hook up everything with HDMI cables. I use a Logitech Advance One remote, a 56" Samsung HDTV ans a Panasonic DVD and now I don't have an issue switching from one input source to another. The Samsung wouldn't switch right back when going from DVD to TV, now it does since everything runs through the receiver. I bought the silver model to go with my cable box and DVD, not many companys offer this color.
