Summary: I've had this receiver for a couple of years now and it's worked very well. I knew about its limitations prior to purchasing so they don't bother me (e.g. only 2 HDMI inputs). Sound quality is quite good with plenty of volume to fill my 20x20 theater room.
Summary: Great product that has provided quality sound for over 4 years. As other reviews have stated, the product does get warm, but I have it in a fairly open area so it has never been a problem. Great price with all the needed features at the time of purchase. Wish it did have a couple more hdmi in ports.
Summary: I bought this receiver last year, works great, still not sure what half of the features of it do! Hooks up all my different components, just hit the button on the remote and it switches inputs and goes to the device no problem.
Summary: I purchased this unit and after about 4 months time it malfunctioned and produced no audio. Because the unit was under warranty, I sent it to be repaired by one of Onkyo's authorized repair facilities.
Summary: I purchased the silver SR-605 and started using it in a simple home theater setup in November 2008. It performed fairly well at first, but maybe I only thought that because it was my first attempt at building a 7.1 channel system.
Summary: I am a guy who is really into gadgets and gizmos. I also appreciate quality electronics and good value. This receiver is probably the best value you will find although I wish it had a few more HDMI inputs. Everything else does exactly as it says it does.
Summary: I purchased the 605 because I was on a budget and could not afford a better sounding HT receiver. That said, this is a great product at $600. With some looking, you may be able to pick it up for far lower.
Summary: I bought my TX-SR605 about a year ago. I also loved it until last week when my hdmi inputs stopped working. I contacted Onkyo regarding warranty work but they were very specific that the receiver would have to be sent in its original package, which i did not have any longer.
