Excerpt: My husband and I love to watch movies and listen to music hooked up to a home theater system. We bought a speakers set with subwoofers from Polk Audio and we bought a 7.1 Channel Home Cinema Receiver from Onkyo electronics. I have heard good reviews from Onkyo products.
Affordable entertainment and a name built to last...

Summary: Sophisticated look and compliments our entertainment components. HDMI and Fiber-optics is superb and the back panel makes it easy to hook up everything for a flawless Home Theater look and sound. Playback is realistic and sound takes your breath away!
Summary: had this same model in the philippines, been using it for 9yrs now. the durability n physical built is bulletproof as they say onkyo is for audio as yamaha is for blockbuster/effectmovie, lately though my unit is having a memory problem, once the power is off, all the settings goes back to reset mode, damn i hav to put it in standby mode even if i'm out of town for the weekend, anyway at 9yrs that's already a steal considering i bought it new for usd399.
Already out for repair longer than I have owned it. Poor Customer Service

Summary: Very disappointed in my first experience with an Onkyo product. Setup was easy and everything seemed fine but then just after one month HDMI input #1 fails to work. I called tech support and their attitude is horrible. They act as if you are disturbing them. They also talk to you in a condescending manner. I was instructed to send the receiver in to DTR Technologies. I was not given any other instructions like their return process or required documentation..
Summary: I hooked up the new Onkyo in about an hour and it sounded great! The next day it wouldn't work for anything hooked up through the HDMI input/output. I called Onkyo service and was greeted by an unhappy tecnician (well it was a Sunday)who told me to reset the Receiver. I asked how and he told me it's in the manual on page "x". I asked that he tell me to expedite the process and he reluctantly did and it worked. During the next 24 hours it needed resetting 4 times.
Summary: 2-MONTH UPDATE: I'm downgrading this from 5 stars to 2 because it's already starting to choke on us. Namely, the sound sometimes cuts out entirely, forcing us to cycle through the inputs (i.e. from DVD to VCR back to DVD) to get it working again. Usually it happens when navigating between a DVD's main menu and playback mode, though sometimes it's random. In any event, this P.O.S. is going back; thank you Amazon for being lenient with your "30-day" return policy!
Summary: I have had this unit for a few months now and I have to say, being a first time owner of any receiver, I am impressed. The ease of set up, the documentation, and the price are just incredible for what this puppy offers. It was up and running within 30 minutes (would have been 5 if I wasn't so anal about wiring).
