Summary: Purchased this because it was Onkyo and their name was so well established. Also loved the price. Great sound and used mainly as a means of controlling my major components such as tivo, dvd, vcr and computer. What no one seemed to know, and certainly Onkyo must have but did not advertise, is that there is no On screen Display (OSD) when using HDMI.
Summary: I bought this receiver from tigerdirect.com in Dec09. The receiver had quality issues so I returned it back and now I am waiting to get my money back. Pros: - The sound quality is good. - It works good with all the sources. I used it with DVD player,HDTV,laptop and FM antenna. - Easy to connect with the speakers, sub and input sources. - Audyssey setup is easy and it improves the sound quality based on the location of speakers and sub. Cons: - It has quality issues.
Summary: I replaced an older Yamaha (non HDMI/HD) receiver with this one. The Onkyo was easy to set up although it took a while to figure out how to set all the options I needed. Sounds great. My biggest complaint is with the manual and Onkyo support. Since I am new to HDMI devices I had alot of trouble in making all my components work since my old DVD player and new Onkyo iPod dock are not HDMI.
Summary: I bought this receiver to replace my Sony 5.1 receiver, primarily because I wanted a dual room/dual source receiver but it needed to fit into a tight space, less than 6.25" high, so my selection was already limited. It's a good receiver, don't get me wrong, but I'm not super-impressed. For starters, they don't really tell you that when you are using the dual room/source feature, the primary listening location cannot play 5.1 surround sound.
Summary: Bought this to power home theater as well as zone 2 whole house audio speakers. Was disappointed that zone 2 won't accept digital inputs, so hdmi hookups won't play through zone 2 speakers. Have also tripped the internal breaker when powering main speakers and zone 2 simultaneously.
Pros: Accurate Controls, Clean Sound, Easy To Set Up
Summary: Let me start by saying this is my first AV receiver (all my life I have had nothing but bookshelf type stereos), and I have only had a few days to play around with it. What I can say that seems to be positive about this AV receiver: -Plenty of sound modes (ie. Music, Games, TV/Movies).
Summary: What appealed to me about this AV Receiver mainly is the vast amount of HDMI ports it has on the back! Once I received and un-boxed it I noticed the stunning display and beautiful design. However it is a bit big and looks old fashioned compared to other devices such as Playstation 3's and Sky Digital Boxes. It let's off massive amounts of heat but is an absolutely fantastic amp. I connected a set of 5.1 Onkyo speakers to it and I'm amazed at the sound.
Summary: Köpte denna i tro om att man kunde skicka Component signaler ut via HDMI.
