Summary: I bought this for my wife and it resides in our bedroom, and it also runs the speakers in the office. This receiver could easily run a system in a much larger room. Power is great everything works great and it is very intuitive to operate. this is not the top of the line but for the money it gets the job done and then some. I would and do highly recommend.
Summary: Has all the features required for a 7.1 channel Home Theater System. Although cannot decode formats like DTS-MA, Dolby True HD, 8 channel analog inputs can fill this gap if the BluRay 8 channel analog inputs are connected to it.
Summary: Having an older Onkyo receiver prior to this, I knew I wanted another Onkyo. This receiver is so easy to hook up with the HDMI hook ups and has an incredible sound! All sound fields are easy to scroll through for each component attached. Watching a blu-ray, dvd, or movie on satellite is BETTER than being at the movies! Cd's sound great too! The remote is easy to program to every component attached, and operates them all nicely! Another lucky Onkyo owner!
Summary: After looking for a reasonably priced HDMI capable home theater receiver and comparing features, I decided to go with Onkyo. The Onkyo TX series receivers I've found to be feature-packed and have great performance and reliability. One specific feature that sets the TX-SR506 apart from the other brands is how it auto-calibrates based on the speaker's performance and sound dynamics of the room.
Summary: i purchased this receiver to primarily play music, with movies on the rare occasion. this receiver was my first choice because it does 7 channels or 5 with the front main speakers bi-amped. i've never had a bi-amp setup so i was really wanting to hear the sonic benifits claimed was true... after a month with my new onkyo the answer here is yes and no. yes the system plays loudly, and very musically sounding. either way it performs very well.
Summary: It amazes me how people don't do their research or read a products description before buying. And then are dumb enough to let us all know that they are unhappy with their dumb mistake. So many complain here that the HDMI is Pass-Thru, yet its stated in the products description. So buy the next unit up, get an extra 10 watts and no pass for $159 more, dumb. I had to purchase 2 audio optical lines to get sound back through the AV, total cost $14.
Summary: This was an emergency purchase as my old Technics system blew up. I couldn't be more pleased! The Technics was a ProLogic simulated surround system, so this was my first experience with true surround sound, and I just can't get enough of it. The sound quality is great, crystal clear and rich.
Summary: This has been a great receiver so far. It takes a little time to learn all the features it has. I love the set up microphone for automatice surround speaker set up. I have only had it since the end of December, but so far so good. The shipping was very fast.
Summary: I purchased this receiver about a month ago. I had an Onkyo receiver before this one, so I was familiar with the hookup procedure. I got this receiver because of the HDMI connections, and am very happy with the surround sound! For the price, a very good receiver.
