Don't buy Onkyo

Michael D. Jones, Amazon
6 March 2009
  • Summary: I was disappointed that there was no up converting the inputs to hdmi output, but that was my fault for not doing a better job reviewing the product. I was happy about the features like the zone 2 which I promptly hooked up to my outdoor speakers on my patio. After having the receiver for a week I finally got my new plasma TV and dish network hd. This is when I discovered that the hdmi pass-through did not work.

HDMI--what's the point?

Lisa M. Guess, Amazon
14 December 2008
  • Summary: I purchased this HDMI receiver thinking it was a great deal. When I started hooking it up, I realized it wasn't such a great deal!! This receiver DOES NOT extract the audio from the HDMI cables. All info is sent to the TV. If you want audio for your surround system, you need to hook up a separate audio link. Second, although this receiver has multiple input types (i.e. S-video, HDMI, composite, component) they do NOT all transmit via the HDMI out.
