Onkyo’s dual-source Powered Zone 2 capability allows the receivers rear surround amplifier channels to power stereo speakers in one room while still listening to 5.1-channel sound in an other room. The Onkyo TX-SR506 uses 32-bit digital signal processing and 192 kHz/24-bit digital-to-analog converters on all channels. Onkyo TX-SR506 has tuner frequency range of FM(87.5 MHz–107.9 MHz), AM(530 kHz–1,710 kHz) and FM/AM Preset Memory(for 40 stations).
Onkyo TX-SR506 providers users two DTS®-ES™ (Extended Surround) formats: DTS®-ES™ Discrete 6.1 and DTS®-ES™ Matrix 6.1. and another format DTS® Neo:6, which derives a 6-channel surround output from a stereo soundtrack, and regular DTS®. Onkyo TX-SR506 also uses the CinemaFilter feature which helps to restore the correct tonal balance of a movie soundtrack in the smaller environments of home theater.

I bought this receiver as a Christmas gift for my parents. So far everything seems to be working fine. The sound quality is fantastic and there are plenty of inputs for whatever equipment they get in the future. I'm a little disapointed inthe remote, as you have to put it back in "receiver" mode whenever you select a different input. I use this just for my 2 tower speaker setup with a powered subwoofer. But if in the future I want to expand I have the ability too. Easy setup, TONS of features and ways to customize it. Best of all though it's so easy to learn and understand this unit. Awesome quality, sound and you just can't beat the price! Read more
It amazes me how people don't do their research or read a products description before buying. And then are dumb enough to let us all know that they are unhappy with their dumb mistake. So many complain here that the HDMI is Pass-Thru, yet its stated in the products description. So buy the next unit up, get an extra 10 watts and no pass for $159 more, dumb.
