Summary: I purchased this receiver 2 weeks ago and I am extremely happy. It has great sound with plenty of options the build quality feels solid and well constructed. The automatic speaker set-up was a breeze and took less than 15 minutes. The user manual was clear and easy to understand and this was my first time setting up a surround receiver with a PS3, HDDVD player, satellite receiver and plasma t.v.
Summary: Decent reciever. Very good build and very user friendly. The sound is warm, crisp and clean, I am happy with all the options and the overall quality of the product. Got it yesterday, need some more time to analyse...
Summary: I recently purchased the Onkyo TX SR505 and am very pleased with it. It has plenty of features for my appetite. I also have the Polk R50 speakers and the Polk PSW10 sub woofer. The Onkyo is perfect for what I need, I run everything into it and have just one HDMI cable going to the TV. The HDMI carrying just video is really not that big of a deal to me. All in all I have a pretty nice sounding system for under $500.
Summary: I particularly like the Onkyo products. The lay out on the back of the receiver makes hookup a breeze. The jacks are color coded and separated in such a manner that wiring is less confusing. I also like the remote control. Lay out is simple and easy to use. The main buttons, volume and channel, are larger than the other buttons and easy to see. The remote has all of the essential modes without being overly complicated.
Summary: I bought this receiver after purchasing (& returning) a Sony receiver that was broken right out of the box. I have never owned an Onkyo until this one, and I have been impressed. I primarily needed it to use with my HD-DVD player (replaced with a PS3) and my Xbox 360. I found the setup to be quite easy, and I used HDMI and optical cables. Yes, there is some confusion about HDMI audio, but I knew what I was getting considering the price level of this receiver!
Summary: This receiver is a great choice for a person getting into home theater. The 7.1 setup is self programming, and allows for everything from HDMI to optical audio. The audio quality is great, and setup is easy. Great receiver for people on a budget.
