Summary: This is a great bang-for-buck receiver. Nice warm sound and a wide array of inputs for a beginner HT setup. Had the LR552 digital receiver previously and I thought that one sounded crisper than the 503, even though the THD is better in the 503. Unfortunately I discovered that my LR552 had bad optical outputs and so I had to part with it. Don't get me wrong, my 503 sounds great and has ample power for my needs.
Summary: Onkyo TX SR503 7.1 channel Receiver is well worth the trouble of putting the wires together. Its sound is unbelievable to the naked ear...the minute details of the stereo an surround sound are easily identified. It is certainly loaded for the casual purpose of entertainment.
Summary: I really like this receiver, it does everything I want it to do and more, much more. The output is so clear, even on low. And at high it really is clear and very loud. I would compare it with any other high end receiver on the market. Very nice and very easy to use.
Summary: The sound quality and power are fantastic. It's very easy to hookup and use. The fact that it has 3 fiberoptic inputs and 1 coaxial digital audio inputs almost made my decision for me. I would buy another one without question.
Summary: This is a great mid-level priced AV Receiver that has premium features. Along with 7.1 Dolby Digital EX/DTS-ES Surround sound, there's HD Component switching. It has 3 Component(Y,Pb,Pr) inputs that let you switch between 3 High Definition/Progressive Scan video sources. I have my CATV(HD), DVD(PS), and XBOX connected via component video cables.
