  • Summary: i'm a fan of onkyo quality/price ratio. i wish i had done more research to know that this receiver does not pass HDMI sound though. otherwise, it's an awesome receiver for the price.

for the price... great tuner

TJM, Amazon
8 July 2010
  • Summary: Overall good quality however it has a few quirks and intermittent problems where it will stop sending signals to various speakers. This is NOT due to loose wiring. However, for the price it is a great product.

Does not work with my PS3...

Isidro Nordelo, Amazon
6 June 2010
  • Summary: I bought this item to connect my PS3, cable and WD device to my tv, without having to select audio and video separately every time I change between them. Everything works fine until I connect my PS3 (The ony 1080p device I have), my tv displays "Invalid Format". I tried changing cables, changing inputs, but nothing changed. I wrote to Onkyo and of course they say that they have this "Pass through" technology and they don't touch the video signal.

Onkyo TX-SR307 reciever review

Frank F., Amazon
14 May 2010
  • Summary: This product is excellent, expecially for the price. It was easy to install and the instructions were clear. My surround system is an amalgam of parts from older systems. I have wall mounted Lansing surround speakers. The main speakers are Harmon Kardon and the sub-bass is a powered unit by Energy. My living room is very large and when the volume is turned up, we get theatre quality sound.

It's great for a first timer, but now I wish I bought a 507 or higher

J. Brimager "J", Amazon
30 March 2010
  • Summary: It had all the features I wanted. I didn't care for the fact that it doesn't receive HDMI audio (HDMI Passthrough). It probably has enough inputs for most people, but I have a ton of game systems and I found myself running out of places to plug them in fast. Surround sounds good with Polk monitor speakers (70s 30s cs2 and the sub). I'm not much of an audiophile so I can't comment on quality, but I can say it sounds great.

great product at a great price

S. Zimmerman, Amazon
23 February 2010
  • Summary: can't complain about the purchase. easy setup...good features. the only downside is that it doesn't convert component to hdmi so you have to run a component cable as well as hdmi to your tv. for me this won't be a problem as soon as i upgrade my dvd player to one with hdmi out. the person that complained about buying extra cables...well it's pretty simple. if you wan't digital surround sound you need some sort of digital input.

Nice for the price

God first "Psalms 37:4", Amazon

  • Summary: I bought this item as a second receiver and I am happy with my purchase because it gave me the flexibility I needed for hooking up all my components. I like the quick connects on the front for Ipod or other purposes. I would recommend it to others.

Not happy

R. Rand, Amazon
11 July 2009
  • Summary: It's my own fault. I didn't fully understand all the technical terms. The unit has pass through HDMI connections which require additional audio connections to the component inputs from the TV to the receiver. Splitters are required because there is only one audio output from the TV and three component devices supported. I wanted to avoid the extra audio cables. Should have purchased a different (more expensive) model.
